“Special Weekend - Special Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We spend an awful lot of time in Whitby, usually in self catering cottages or camping in the summer, but as this time we only had a few days to spare and it was our anniversary, we decided to opt for a luxury short break - and comparing prices with short breaks in cottages and at the Anchorage, it was pretty much the same price - and with a sea view to die for, and a breakfast as well, it seemed a no brainer of a choice. We were pretty late getting there as we were arriving straight from work, but that was absolutely no problem for the owners, and we were shown to our room at 7pm, and I have to say WOW. I have honestly never stayed at such a fabulous b & b in my life - it was just absolutely lovely. Our room itself (The French Room) is enormous. A large bay window with seating, beautifully decorated and furnished with a stunning King Size French style bed, gorgeous bedding, and lovely 'shabby chic' french vintage bedroom furniture. The Bathroom again, wonderful. A lovely roll top bath, massive shower - the bathroom really was as big as a small bedroom (which I believe it once was)., and both these rooms had the most glorious sea views. Breakfast every morning was excellent. You have to choose the day before (and you can choose your time as well as your food), but you can choose up to quite late in the evening before, by just ticking a breakfast sheet and leaving it downstairs. Full cooked breakfast to your order, specials if you require, toast, fresh fruit (kiwi fruit, grapefruit, banana, melon) cereals etc., anything you want and very well done. And the icing on the cake?.... served in your room. I know some people have grumbled about not being in a big room with loads of other people eating their foot, but, honestly, breakfast in your room with that amazing sea view, and an outstanding service - really can't be beaten - it felt very special . Finally - 100% Dog friendly even in the best rooms. Absolutely thrilled to have found this wonderful place, and it won't be the last time we stay.
Im going to have a very little niggle though - I would have liked a bigger bath towel - with a bath as glorious as that, I just wanted to luxuriate a little more - and a lovely enormous bath towel to climb in to afterwards would have been wonderful.
Everything else - top marks plus!!!!!
Well done.

Room Tip: Rooms with sea views are a little more expensive but worth everys single penny.

We stayed here 2 nights at the end of January. It's totally changed since last time we came, it was good before, but now it's something else. The effort that has been made in all rooms puts most small hotels and B&B's to shame - excellent. As luck would have it we had room 2, huge, boutique, bay window, sea view, roll top bath - fit for a king. We saw three of their rooms in total and although room 2 is the best, all had the 'wow' factor and were different. We enjoyed having our breakfast brought to our room and agree it's a good idea. Parking right outside, easy walk into town centre, but at the same time just far enough away to be quiet. Superb value for money, I even over paid it was so good. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Having stopped in numerous Hotels and Guest Houses in Whitby over many years this one is a Gem. Being sceptical about reviews from other travellers ive got to say that nothing dissapionted. Everything about our 2 night stay was fantastic from the cleanliness of the room to the friendliness of the owners. Stayed in the Penthouse and what can i say other than you would be hard pressed to get a better view anywhere.
The owners have chosen to do away with the breakfast room and serve breakfast in your rooms which has to be in my opinion the best desision they could have made and other Hotels would do well to follow suit.
Why sit in a breakfast room when you have fantastic views from your room.
Breakfast was spot on.
Hotel was spot on.
What more can i say,If your in Whitby its a must.

Room Tip: Any sea view room will not dissapoint

“Minor niggles but we'd still go back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Iffy hot water, bulbs out in the room and a faulty hair dryer didn't put us off what is a lovely B&B.

The welcome and service was efficient, friendly and unstuffy and the breakfast very very good. So nice to eat it privately in your room and knowing exactly what time it's arriving so you can plan your morning not having to wait for it to be cooked in a dining room.

The rooms are comfortable with some nice touches including a little wine chiller, wine glasses and candle holders. It's the little things that make the difference.

Yes you can find lots of alternative cheaper en suite B&Bs in Whitby but if you want that little bit extra it's worth paying for.

We'll go back although I suspect as the word gets out this place will be busier than ever.

Well recommended.

“A Great weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Enjoyed our stay very much, room very clean ,spacious and very well furnished. Everything we could possible need and delicious breakfasts. We would prefer use of a dining room as I always find other guests interesting! but cant think of any other faults and would certainly recommend this to others. Thankyou Mick and Debbie for a lovely weekend.
