Total disgusting place to stay..no heating on arrival and snowing outside...take heed of this report and others before it..i'm not hard to please but really be warned i'd never return to that cold smelly place..stay at a B+B of which are far superior in Whitby...The Hotel Inspector would close the place down....

From start to righting this review has been a night mare all the staff are way too younge to deal with making guest feel welcome we paid £80 for are room and I would not pay £20 there Was no welcome jusy signed a form to say we would not smoke end of. We had to find are own way to are tiny room the carpet coming to are room was full of dirt and look as if it had not been hovered for months the place smelt damp but on reaching are room there was hair in the bed so slept with out bedding as there was no one about to ask for clean bedding there was chewing gum on carpet and mould in the bathroom but to top it off there was no view what's so ever as the window was frosted why was we puy in a room like this when there was only 4 rooms taken in the whole hotel becouse they don't care please don't stop here.

After looking at the reviews on trip advisor, I was concerned that I might have booked the wrong hotel.....I DIDN'T and was pleased I took no notice of the opionated views of some people, we visited Whitby for a funeral service with our two children 12 and 14 and stayed in the Multi romm which had a double bed and two singles in one room, it was bright, clean, tidy and tea, coffee and milk and kettle were in the room, Towels were places on the beds for our use. We had a drink in the pub both evenings but didn't have breakfast due to times of funeral. However, every one was very friendly, for £80 a night for a family room, I would recommend. the room was on the second for so you didn't hear karaokee night which finish at 12.00pm.

Stayed at the George for 1 night on Saturday 3rd December as part of a male group of mates(5 in total). Not really sure why there are bad reviews as we found it okay. The staff were pleasant, the rooms were clean and bright and the locations good. The pub downstairs was busy on the night and so was the disco in the basement. Can honestly say we didn't notice any noise on the night but we were very late going to bed and we'd had a good night. Can't comment on the breakfast because we always go around the corner to a cafe that we always use. Would i reccomend this hotel? yes I would. Will I be returning? Yes I will both with my mates but also with my better half as a group of couples.
