The room was very comfortable with a great shower and a problem with the TV was sorted out rapidly.
Dinner: OBSCENELY OVER-PRICED, LACK OF FINESSE, WINE FINE.
Starter of Game Parcels was OK with a bitter orange sauce.
The very small duck I was presented with as a main had led a short and meaningless life considering the dried out over-cooked dish I was presented with the price a staggering £18.00!
The cheese board at £8.95 featured some chunks of cheese straight out of the Co-op fridge cabinet. Rubbery and flavours relatively non-descript. I recommend a trip to Hunter's of Helmsley for a lesson in regional cheeses- that's what we did the following day. http://www.huntersofhelmsley.com/
At the prices charged (£2-5 more per dish than on the website), a little more cooking skill and presentation might have been in order. Any of the local fish and chip restaurants take a greater pride in cooking than this chef did.
I might take a room again but would not go near the restaurant.
We stayed here just the week before Christmas so the weather was quite chilly. The Hall though was very welcoming and we did get a very good deal presumably due to the time of year. We had a beautiful big room with a lovely four poster bed making it a very memorable stay.
We have previously stayed in the annexe which is probably a better choice in winter as although the heating was on the room was a little cold maybe as we were on the floor.
Breakfast was delicious with a wide selection. Would certainly love to stay again!
Me, my partner and another couple stayed in this hotel for one night. On arrival gave us a very going deal on the rooms with Breakfast.
The rooms are lovely , we stayed up the hill in the lodge not in the HAUNTED hall . Very Modern and cosy.
We had our evening meal there and it was GORGEOUS.
Breakfast was ok.
Would def stay again.
