We stayed at the Saxonville for two nights in January in one of their double rooms. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the hotel was excellently situated for Whitby town (West). The hotel itself was spotlessly clean although the decoration and fittings in our bathroom were rather "tired". Intriguingly the glass in the bathroom window (which actually faced properties opposite) was clear, and the net curtain installed did not quite cover the whole length of the window. We only stayed on a B&B basis so can't comment on the dining experience but the dining room itself was spotless and well decorated and the breakfast was without a doubt top class. Full and highly attentive waitress service, excellent choices, well cooked and presented food and quality tableware... Couldn't fault it. The only down side was that by our second day the bathroom had developed a very musty smell which opening the window further could not get rid of. If we had been staying for another night we would have definitely had to change rooms. In any event, we reported it to the receptionist who said she'd get it looked at .
In summary however, an excellent hotel and we would certainly use it again.
