“50th BIRTHDAY TREAT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Stayed one night before doing the Settle to Carlisle train journey. We got a room upgrade as they knew it was my husband 50th birthday. We got a warm & friendly welcome on arrival. Our room was spotlessly clean, & had all the facilities required. We had dinner in the restaurant, the food was excellent as was the service from Kimberley the waitress.Had a great nights sleep & then we ate a superb breakfast which really set us up for the day.Throughout the stay Ian the manager & his wife lou were very friendly & nothing was too much trouble. The Lion is a credit to you all, well done, see you for sunday lunch in the spring.

Room Tip: Number 15, comfy bed feather pillows, great shower

“Lovely one night stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We stayed here for just the one night after taking a fancy to Settle. We were offered the walk in rate of £65 B&B, not bad atall but this place will get really booked up in the summer as there are only a handful of places to stay.
We had room 14 at the front, very clean, nice bed, little seating area. The only problem was the noise of the traffic, i realise that there is little the hotel can do about this but in the early hours when a lorry goes past it did shake the room a bit.
There was a quiz the night we stayed and that was a really good night. The staff are all proper friendly. The breakfast was yummy. We will be back in the summer if we can get a room so we can go walking. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Maybe a room at the back away from the road

“Great food shame about the noise”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

This is a nice Inn downstairs, with a roaring fire. The Food is very nice and good value for money.

However we had room 6 on the front and it was very noisy due to the road outside. The window also rattled and we had to put paper against the frame to stop it rattling.
The room is nicely furnished, although the bathroom was not touched in the re furbishment and is in need of a re fit. I say this as the room costs £90 a night and you would expect an up to date bathroom for this amount of money.

Overall I would recommend eating here but not staying. The accomodation does not offer you value for money. It also does not fullfill the email you are sent upon confirmation of your resevation which is tiltled relax@thelion. We certainly did not feel relaxed after a poor nights sleep.

Room Tip: Book a room at the back of the Inn.

I am delighted on one hand that you enjoyed the inn itself and the food and service but of course disappointed to hear that you did not get a good night’s sleep. I realise we cannot turn back the clock but if you would like to contact me personally I would be very happy to invite you back as my guests for a night. Please accept my apologies you did not fully enjoy your stay with us and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

“We love everything about The Lion.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

This is a really excellent inn. It has been tastefully refurbished. The rooms are comfortable and attractive as are the dining room and bar. The sofas and the log fire are a nice touch. The staff are friendly and helpful and clearly enjoy working there. The menu is varied and the food is delicious with good quality ingredients and is excellently cooked. The Lion has a lovely atmosphere which makes for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Settle is a very pretty town with lots of small and interesting shops. Lovely countryside and walking nearby. We have been there twice in 3 months and will be visiting again soon.
