“Great Hotel - can't wait to return”

We chose this hotel as a base for a short walking break but unfortunately the weather prevented us from getting very far (very icy). However, the hotel was a very welcome place to stay with real fires, 3 guest lounges and a very nice bar area. As we only stayed one night we didn't dine in the evening but the breakfast was lovely - everything home made and of a very high quality. Our double room (room 1) was lovely - very spacious with tea and coffee (plus biscuits and fruit) and bottled water. The staff were very friendly and helpful, e.g. advised us on walking etc. There are plenty of magazine, books etc so if the weather is poor then you can relaz and read by the fire etc. We will definitely return when the weather iimproves!

“romantic place to stay, lovely food”

We stayed here for one night on dinner bed and breakfast. What a lovely hotel. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. No snobbishness that you sometimes find in these country style hotels. Room was really old fashioned and luxurious. Really lovely lounge with a roaring fire where it's nice to sit and have a drink. The best thing though was the food. The three course evening meal was as good as we've had in expensive restaurants. The breakfast was wonderful too, full english if you wanted it but also a good choice of alternatives. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending it. It's also in a lovely quiet rural setting and you get a good peaceful nights sleep.

“Lovely winter stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We decide to stay on the way to the Lakes as it is dog friendly and you could book for one night only on a Friday. When we arrived we realised the hotel is set in the beautiful village of Austwick. The hotel is a lovely old house and upon entering we were greeted by capable and friendly staff. There are several rooms off the bar area where you can have a drink and the hotel has comforting open fires to give a lovely country house feel. The bedroom was modern, clean and comfortable and met our needs. We would definitely stay again as everything was very good especially the staff. This would be a great weekend getaway if you lived closer than us.

“Great country hotel, food and service. Well located.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

We stayed the last week in January for our annual walking break, all 18 of us! Everyone was delighted with their rooms, the food and the service. The Traddock is well situated on the southern edge of the National Park and we enjoyed three days walking from the Hotel in reasonable weather.

“Great place to stay in January”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

We stopped in for a two night stay, and we were made most welcome. We've often stayed at the Traddock, and have always enjoyed it. We had one evening meal, which was great. All staff very helpful, and happy to help. A slightly wider wine list could be considered....
Great place to stay and visit.
