“Good base in North Yorkshire”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

A fine hotel just outside Settle within 5 minutes walk to centre and railway station. The staff and owners were very helpful, our booking and arrival was very late due to travel difficulties. Our room was average although the bathroom was good, the bed a little small for me personally as I am over 6 ft. The breakfast was excellent with our personal needs attended to without fuss. The building itself is vert historic with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. The bar area is very inviting. Overall a good hotel, its nice to have a unique and distinctive hotel with character. Good parking.

Room Tip: room 8 was average, bed not good for the larger folk, good views, at top of stairs.

“So relaxing, friendly and welcoming.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

So relaxing, friendly and welcoming.
Stayed for 1 night Friday 11th Nov 2011 in room 4. The decor is beautiful and goes very well with the building, I personally do not think it needs to be updated, i think it would look silly if it was to be modernised.
Arrived early and was told by a very friendly lady that our room was ready and we were more than welcome to check in. I loved the hotel so much. only 1 bad point....the shower runs hot and cold so takes longer to get ready! apart from that I can not complain about anything. All the staff were very friendly and interested to find out where we were from and what we had planned for the following day, also gave advise on places to visit. The revolving pool table is amazing but can make you a little dizzy after a few drinks. Would also recomend the steak night, great value and cooked to perfection.
Will be visiting again very soon.

Room Tip: Have a go of the revolving pool table but not after a few drinks!!!

“Very mixed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Stayed over the weekend with travel offers. First impressions were of a very dated hotel. greeted by elderley gentleman who was nice enough to talk too but hardly the right image, (sweatshirt and jeans). Our room had a view of the fire escape and was up what I assume was the back stairs when the building was a manor house. the room itself was comfortable and clean. Could have been improved by a flat screen television and freeview that actually worked all the time.

However, that said, the food was served in a magnificent dining with fantastic views. The chef was brilliant and everything was piping hot. A bit dissapointed that the bar only had Tetley bitter on draft (no bottles either) but if you are a wine connoisseur, apparently they had a very well stocked cellar and the head waiter was extremely knowledgeable.

Overall,m a good base from which to explore th Yorkshire Dales, but watch the price as they have a lot of supplements.

Room Tip: Pay the supplement for a four poster and ask what the view is

“Lovely food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

The food here is of a good standard. A delicous breakfast. They even make their own jams and marmalade.

“Great view from the dining room.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

Falcon Manor is certainly an imposing building. Driving up to the front door, you could almost expect to be met by a uniformed butler.
Sadly, any connection to a grand country house ends right there. Imposing as it is, The Falcon is really nothing more than a very large b and b.
Our room, although a little dull as it overlooked a courtyard at the rear of the building, was comfortable. The bathroom, although dated and needing 'spruced up' was clean and functional, although you would have to wait an eternity for the bath to fill due to low water pressure. Ah, the joys of country living !
The aforementioned view from the dining room is superb, almost worth the cost of a stay on its own. Having brekkies while gazing out over the countryside was wonderful.
Would I stay again ? Probably, if the room rate was right.
Quite frankly though, The Falcon offers nothing that would have me rushing back.
