We'd booked a night thanks to Holiday Inn's 2012 promotion so won't be complaining as it only cost just over £20 for a double room. However, we wouldn't want to pay much more to stay here. The room itself had been semi-freshed - clean walls and carpet but 1980's tatty brown furniture kind of spolied the potentially contemporary look. There was a rather nice large-ish flatscreen TV but the room was rather confused with its 1980s furniture. The view also from room 306 also wasn't much to die for - air conditioning units, a flatroof and council houses were all we could really see.
I don't know if they were having some kind of function but there were alot of rev-heads and it felt quite chavvy (its situated beside one of the largest council house estates in Norwich - Lakenham) - had we been wear tracksuits and been driving a Peugot 106 with darkened windows and a spoiler we'd have felt at home! Outside of the hotel, groups of said clients were puffing away on their cigarettes continually throughout our stay.
Reception staff were very efficient but they spoke as though they were reading through a script. Friendly enough though.
One thing that really needs to change is the fact that you cannot turn the aircon on during colder months as its centrally controlled - so despite having the window open (although due to a restricter it would only open an inch or so) - its was absolutely boiling - and this was in December! We could either have it on fan or heat - no aircon! I woke up several times absolutely boiling which ruined my night's sleep. How can they have airconditioned rooms with aircon facility that is only switched on when they feel its warm enough?!?!
The bathroom was also teeny but ok - although the loo seat had seen better days!
The beds were really comfy but it was such a shame we were just too hot to sleep (in December!).
An average hotel - which is 2 miles out of Norwich (and you wouldn't want to walk the route in as its on the outer ring road), in a rather run down area - rooms ok, reception friendly enough but far too hot to be able to sleep properly. I would have been disappointed had I paid more.
Room Tip: Complain that you want aircon - if enough people ask, surely they will do something to allow you to...

Thank you for your feedback concerning our Hotel. We value the local community we are situated in and welcome their patriotism. We do not share your view regarding our residential or function guests, but I do respect the fact that you are entitled to your opinion. I fully take on board your comments regarding our air exchange system, which we have to set to heat in the winter and cool in the summer. We have to do this as all the units run off the same exchange unit. This unforgivably does not allow us to cater for personal heat/cool preferences by room at present. I am sorry that this disturbed your nights sleep. The windows do fully open once you remove the safety catch, I am sorry we did not bring this to your attention so you could cool your room more quickly.
