Travelodge's are ok places for short stays. You can't really expect much. At the City Road hotel you get a pretty small room with the usual fairly spartan facilties, but clean. When I arrived in my room there was no toilet roll so I had to go and get some at reception. Room was quiet enough, though there was some sort of ventilation fan outside that was audible. Location is ok for the City, as you'd expect, though not so great if you want to go to West End and there's not much happening in the area at night. The restaurant serves decent enough food but the bar isn't the most atmospheric place to enjoy a drink. It's ok for a fairly central location, and about as cheap as it gets for central London, but doesn't exactly have character, but then that's not a surprise really.

I have stayed at a lot of Travelodges and I was definately pleasantly surprised by this one. It was clean and fresh and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I aksed for a quiet room and was given one on the 6th floor overlooking the central atrium - no view, but nice and quiet as requested. The Travelodge rooms are basic, but adequate for a couple of days. The bar & restaurant facility at this Travelodge is very good. I will definately stay here again next time I'm in London.

Check in handled swiftly and efficiently by a friendly lady. Whilst checking in saw another guest come down and ask for a towel as there was none in her room: on arrival in my room, there was not one there either, so it was back down to reception to get one. Location is excellent, just a few minutes walk from Old Street and Moorgate underground stations, and not much further to Liverpool Street station for main line trains. It pays to ask for a room at the end of a corridor, as sometimes there can be a bit of noise at weekends from other guests returning from one of the many clubs in the area.

Had two nights in late january staff very helpful through out stay.Room basic but comfortable(asked for extra pillows)breakfast great value for money.People have to remember if you want the luxury of the Ritz you have to pay for it.All in all a great value for money stay.
