“Two visits to the Antoinette”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

The first two days were good. The room was clean - staff were great. (Single room a little small).
The second time I came for a week with my wife.
She found the area outside the hotel a little disconcerting since it is very much a town environment.
The room was very clean, had a small settee, the bed was comfortable. The little sitting area near the bar was pleasant. The car park is secure though I understand when functions are taking place it may not be able to accommodate everyone.
Both my wife and I cannot praise the staff enough - they are really friendly, helpful and provide useful information. Easy walk to Wimbledon South Tube station.

Room Tip: The single room I had was too small and close to the roof garden (People talking outside my window l...

Dear BB1950,
Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I am pleased that you found your room to be cleaned to a high standard, and enjoyed the benefits of the king size bed and sofa in the spacious Executive Double room at the rear of the hotel. All rooms at the hotel are fitted with triple glazing, in order to alleviate any noise from outside. Secure car parking is included in the room rate, and priority is given to hotel guests. I will pass on your kind comments to the team at Antoinette Wimbledon, who are always happy to be of assistance, in order to ensure guests enjoy their stay.
Looking forward to welcoming you back.

“Quiet, Comfortable and Friendly”

I recently stopped over at the Antoinette, and rather enjoyed my stay. It was comfortable, the food at the hotel was excellent, breakfast was excellent, eggs cooked to order, plenty of coffee. I ate the restaurant next door , the steak was delicious. I thought the staff were very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble, with them looking out for my needs. The hotel is in Wimbledon, so my expectations for the hotel wasn't high to be honest, since I have stayed in London before and experienced a pretty poor hotel, although highly priced. This hotel was different becasue the staff wanted to make me feel at home. I enjoyed, and would go back if on business in the area. Thanks to the member of staff at breakfast too, she is an asset to the Hotel, and the guy at the restaurant. Well done guys!

“Good shot!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

The Antoinette is the only regular hotel in the Wimbledon area, apart from a luxury country house hotel and a few small bed-and-breakfast establishments. But it's quite well situated, 10-15 minutes walk from Wimbledon and South Wimbledon stations and directly on several bus routes, with a reasonably sized free car park and easy access from the A3. Accommodation is comfortable generally, although the decor needs a little freshening up; the premises are kept very clean and the staff are polite and helpful. Breakfast is reasonable value for a London area hotel, and of adequate quality and variety. There is a small bar area in the lobby, while just outside is a bar/restaurant, and there are lots of cafes and restaurants on the main road towards the town centre. The street outside can at times be a little noisy, but this is only to be expected. Having used this hotel several times we're quite happy to contine to use it, and it's always fairly busy with business and leisure guests from all over Europe and beyond.

Dear PMPGlasgow,
As a regular guest it is nice to receive your positive feedback, and learn that you find all the team friendly and helpful. Our location is ideal for both business and leisure guests, who benefit from complimentary car parking and wi-fi access. The Lambourne Bar and Grill offers freshly prepared dishes from the open kitchen, and has recently been awarded an AA Rosette ,and the same team of Chefs are responsible for sourcing the high quality products used for Breakfast.
Looking forward to welcoming you back soon.

“Where else in Wimbledon?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Stayed for a couple of nights in November, as our daughter's at college in Wimbledon. There's such a small choice of places to stay. On the plus side there is free parking and our 'superior' room was large, with a balcony and good view. On the negative side, the sealant round the bath had black mould, the shower screen was rubbish and it was impossible to stop water pouring all over the floor, and, despite a notice saying that towels would only be changed if left in the bath, they were removed from the heated towel rail along with my partner's best knickers! Anyway, we got them back after a day, but it was all a bit of hassle, although the staff were good.
The reception, breakfast area and outside of the hotel are pretty depressing to look at.

Overall, the experience was 'not bad'. Pricey though, at £110 a night excluding breakfast, for what it was. We did try breakfast one day but at 12 quid it's definitely to be avoided.

Dear AJT-York-England,
As the Guest Relations Manager, I would like to thank you for bringing to our attention the issue you experienced with the shower screen, which I am pleased to confirm has been rectified. Our rates are inclusive of car parking and wi-fi access, but following feedback from guests it was decided that breakfast should be excluded allowing flexibility of choice. Our Full English and Continental Buffet Breakfast is extremely popular, and represents excellent value for money. I hope you can appreciate that everyone's opinion of decor varies, as a recent Inspector viewing the hotel found the contemporary design of the Reception and public areas to a high standard.

“Basic but good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

We stayed in this hotel for three nights in November 2011. We booked one executive twin room and one single. The total stay rates per room were £318 and £208 respectively. The twin room was extremely large with a large windowed bathroom en suite. The rooms had wall-mounted air conditioning units, tea and coffee-making facilities and satellite TV and radio. There were two double beds in the executive twin, both of which had good firm mattresses. As both rooms were at the front of the hotel, they suffered from traffic and pedestrian noise most of the night. Staff were friendly and eager to please. Breakfast was extra at £11.95 per person, and was of poor quality and bad value for money, compared to what was available nearby on The Broadway. The Lambourne Bar and Grill next door to the hotel offered a 10% discount on food to hotel residents and had a pleasant atmosphere. Location was excellent and was within 15 minutes walk of two tube stations (South Wimbledon and Wimbledon). A frequent bus service operated from outside the hotel and staff will call residents a taxi if desired (Heathrow was a little over £37 as a fixed fare and took around 45 minutes). The hotel offered complimentary car parking in a large secure facility at the rear. Good shopping is available in Wimbledon and a walk to Wimbledon Common took around 40 minutes, to be highly recommended. Wimbledon Tennis is also just within walking distance. Considering how expensive and mediocre so many hotels are in London and its suburbs, this hotel can be recommended for good value, friendly service and clean facilities.

Room Tip: Select a room at the rear of the hotel away from the busy road (The Broadway) at the front of the ho...

Dear Professorcooke_11,

I am pleased that you found our rates good value, especially in view of our great location within easy reach of the town, and stations, and the fact that they include secure car parking.
Our twin rooms are very spacious, and the beds are purchased from Hypnos, suppliers to the Royal Family. All rooms are fitted with triple glazing, in order to minimise any outside noise.
I was disappointed to learn of your issue with the quality of Breakfast, which on this occasion appears to have not meet our normal high standard, and this has been brought to the attention of the Head Chef.
It is nice to hear that all members of the team were professional and friendly, and that you would recommend our services and facilities.
Looking forward to welcoming you back.
