We were looking for a place to stay for the night as we enjoyed London. We were looking for somewhere well located, clean and inexpensive. We found just that in The london City Hotel. We were booked into a double room (rm 17)which was on the small side, but very clean. It was located just next to the Borough tube station. Easy in and out of the city and close to London Bridge as well.
It was great for one or two nights but I wouldn't recommend it for an extended stay unless you are traveling light and solo. The bed was also a bit saggy in the center, but we slept well.

Even though I had checked the reviews, I was still very apprehensive as I pressed the buzzer next to the aluminium door between the pub and cafe. The narrow staircase that took me up to the first floor office that is 'reception' didn't boost my confidence.
I was warmly greeted and signed in and directed to my room on the same floor. Things started to get better as a went along the clean, well decorated corridor. The room was one of the bigger ones I have had in London and very clean. The bed was really comfortable. The bathroom very adequate and spotless. Good towels and soap dispensers. It was also very quiet. Decor average but fresh.
The £119 price is very fair, especially when you can pay almost double for a grubby wardrobe sized room elsewhere in this city.
Breakfast (+£9) was in the cafe next door and was just about ok, but I won't bother next time.
For a lone traveller staying for 1 night (and going to a conference across the road), pretty good.

When i caught a glimpse of the hotel from the outside, i can't say i was pleased. From the outside this place looks super small and possibly a ripoff. However after saying there for 3 nights i can say it was a very comfortable stay.

Word of warning - this hotel has no elevator, and therefore you will need to carry the luggage up the stairs. I was unlucky enough to get a 3rd floor room and had to drag the luggage around.

Staff is very nice and friendly, clean rooms great location and the bed was incredibly comfy! The hotel is walking distance from the River Thames and London/Tower Bridge/London Dungeons. Literally 5 steps away from Borough underground station and opposite of starbucks! Would gladly go again!

I stayed here recently on a business trip that took me to the eXcel. This place was clean, comfortable enough, and though my room was quite small and a bit spartan, I liked it. Directly upstairs from a Tube station, and about half a mile from London Bridge. I went for a run one evening along the Thames River Walk starting around the bridge and got in some fast-paced sightseeing despite a packed schedule. And it was about a third of the price of the hotels nearer the eXcel. Easy combination of the Tube and DLR got me to the conference center dead cheaply. The Web site didn't mention it, but they have WiFi available at a decent price.
