“Good budget hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

If staying at this hotel try to arrange a room in the main building. We were in an ajoining building and had to go to the main building to use WIFI. Breakfast was typical English fare and very delicious. I would like to stay again just for the breakfast. Our room was small, like most european hotels, but very clean and same for the shared baths in the hall.
The hotel staff our very friendly and helped us with directions and printing our boarding passes for flights to Scotland. The only negitives are the separate building and small room.

“Budget hotel but AMAZING breakfast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I stayed here in September 2011 with my Boyfriend for two nights. The rooms were small. Bed, small wardrobe and a sink, and hardly any floor space at all. The shared bathroom was very clean, and there was never any problems waiting to use it. Jut had a bathtub - no shower on our floor, but the floor upstairs had a shower and we could use it also.

The breakfast was the highlight of the stay - the full english was amazing, and filled me up for ages! The stafff were very helpful, by letting us store our luggage until the room was available, and also setting up an early breakfast for us, as we left at 7am.

It is a budget hotel, and is ideal if you are not spending any time in the room other than to sleep! It is convienently located and very reasonable for a hotel in London. The room was clean, however did not have A/C. Whilst we were there it was really hot, and the window only opens a teeny bit - so it was quite hot in the room. But, It served the purpose as a place to stay in between sight seeing!

Not for you if you want a luxury room. But if we were on a budget in London again, we would definatley stay at St Athens again :)

“economical, clean and friendly - outstanding location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I've stayed at the St Athans hotel twice now and both times I've found it be an excellent budget hotel. The rooms and shared bathrooms have always been very clean and the staff have been extremely helpful and welcoming. The new basement cafe is a great improvement on the old dining room - light and airy with fantastic coffee, croissants etc for breakfast. The atmosphere of the whole place is relaxed and friendly and the location is unbeatable. The rooms are basic, but comfortable, and there is a very handy computer which guests can use for free in the sitting room.

If you prefer chain hotels, or want luxury with all the frills, then this is probably not the place for you. But if you want a value for money place to stay right in the centre of London, then St Athans definitely fits the bill.

Room Tip: If you are concerned about noise from the street, maybe talk to the staff before booking. Both time...

“great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We stayed with two kids for 3 nights. Naturally this is a budget hotel and noone will miss that with their prices in such a great location! The staff is very friendly and they try to compensate any discomforts. We had a room without private bathroom and I worried a lot about this with two kids beforehand. I turned out completely fine. There is always a shower that is empty, always a loo in reach. They do not charge for breakfast and there are plenty of cafes around, but we would recommend the one in-house. Great coffee and lovely creamy porridge! If you want a mini bar, TV, all-round wifi, room service etc, pay for it and go elsewhere!

“Great location, breakfast is NOT included, noisy....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

We moved here from another hotel, The Celtic, to save a few quid. We were surprised that they charge for breakfast and that at night it sounded like a marathon moving up and down the stairs, the fire doors slammed every few minutes. I am a sound sleeper but had to resort to earplugs. One bed was more like a hammock as it sagged remarkably. The staff also implied that they wished we re-use our bathmats, which just isn’t going to happen in my world. We stayed two nights and moved on; I didn’t like having to go to the desk to get towels and mats. Also the front desk controls the heat. It is Spartan, to be kind. But it did save us a few £ and, considering the prices in London, it was okay. Bye the by, The Celtic is about £20 a night more but it DOES include breakfast, has heaters in the room…and plenty of towels.
