“Birthday Treat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

We stayed in the hotel overnight after a birthday event in the club area. It was great because the lift from the club goes directly to the room corridor which was very convenient after the end of a good night partying. The rooms are quite small but very comfortable especially the bed which has a fabulous mattress and duvet. We heard some noise from the Chiswick High Road but is what you might expect in central london. The shower room was perfect for us because we are not big bath fans and the Cowshed accessories were a treat. We had breakfast in the club restaurant which feels more special than the downstairs brasserie which can be accessed by general public. It has a very relaxed Sunday morning vibe with plenty of papers to devour and a delicious fry up!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper you could ask for a room overlooking the back of the hotel away from the...

“A hidden gem in west london, uber cool and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

Unsigned and understated, you'd never even know a small hotel was here, its discrete entrance to the right of Chiswick's hippest brasserie / restaurant. Just 14 small rooms - but what rooms! Achingly cool, with all modern sound systems, built in TV; fresh ground coffee, cookies, choice of teas, all in rubber sealed preserve jars. And surely the most comfortable bed and pillows ever - all at a very reasonable price. Meals can be taken in the private members club on the 1st floor, among the local media and professional types. Good table service, good food.
Downsides? There is NO daytime parking anywhere near, so if you need it, forget this hotel. Our TV reception was poor. Showers only in almost all rooms, only one or two have baths. No help with luggage. And no sign they read the criticisms on TA. But if you want something different, cool, convenient for the tube into town, then this is most certainly worth a try. We've been before and will go again.

Room Tip: Lift only goes to 2nd floor ( rooms 1 to 7), so avoid 3rd floor rooms 8 to 14 if you don't want...

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011

I was meeting colleagues from work in London and decided to stay over. This hotel is a real gem, the room I had was beautiful, even ha da bath in the bedroom. Lots of little touches were hidden all over the room - cookies, in jars, fresh coffee, a well stocked mini bar and great toiletries - had absolutely everything you could wish for.

The staff were very helpful and great fun - didn't eat there but did have a couple of drinks in the guests bar where the atmosphere and service was very very good. Will return

  • Liked — quirky bedrooms and very well kitted out
  • Disliked — there are hard wood floors everywhere so it can be noisy especially at night time with people walking about

“Excellent location, facilities, decor, food - great all rounder.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

We spent 3 days here and loved it. Great home from home and perfect base for W London. We sampled the restaurant (in private members' club), the room service, the nearby gym, the extensive selection of Cowshed products, the free wifi, etc and enjoyed it all. Also located v close to Turnham Green tube. The 'small' room was much bigger than expected. We'd go back for sure.

“The Best Beds in Britain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

I remember when this location was a bright yellow family run Italian hotel and some of that character has been kept by Soho House Group.

This is one of my favourites of their hotels as it has all of the comfort but none of the pretension of some of their other hotels. Its the sort of place you want to stay in bed together on a rainy afternoon with a brandy, hot chocolate and the radio on.

The rooms (we saw and spoilt two after a leaking radiator in the first) are cozy. I really don't see what paying extra for a larger room gets you. All offer the same excellent amenities.

Don't expect wardrobes in the smaller rooms, you hang your clothes on the wooden pegs around the walls. Other than that, expect the best: mini bar, snacks; more Cowshed products than you can drench yourself in, great showers and beds and linen that really do set the standard.

Food can be hit and miss in the Brasserie, but on the whole does what it sets out to do. It has a great atmosphere as do both bars.

If you do venture out, the George Pub nearly opposite is a beast of place but keeps the best examples of Fuller's beers in London.
