This is a generic business class hotel, a bit longer in the tooth. Still in generally good shape. Rooms were adequate, but nothing great. The internet connection was a hardwire, and it was so short that my laptop had to sit in exactly one precise place, which was not especially comfortable. No wifi available for the rooms, which is just silly.

The room was also cold. The thermostat said 18, and despite all my pushing of buttons, would not change. I chatted with the front desk that night and they said there was some kind of computer glitch with some new software, and they would have to alter the temp from the front desk. She immediately picked up a phone and said no problem, it'll get done. But in fact, no luck. Talked to the front desk again the next day, same answer, same show of picking up the phone and making a call, same "it'll be taken care of right now", and nothing. Third day, exactly the same routine. I suppose they had been coached to do that, but it seems a poor choice when the client is going to immediately know that it didn't get fixed.
Other than sleeping in thermals, it was an OK stay.

Modern, comfortable hotel, probably one of the few in this area. Well maintained big rooms and lobby, very popular bar and an average restaurant for fine dining (Napa). Advantages of being close to the Gunnersbury Tube Station and Chiswick Park, many eating places and shops on Chiswick High Road. Gym is a disappointment - has a creaky machine which tries to simulate mountain climbing. No cross trainers, but 2 good rowing machines and some weights. Too small and cramped. Meeting rooms are functional. One has stayed here many times, but the staff don't really recognize you. Decor is a bit non-conventional, can't say I like it. Garish is probably the word for it. But the comfort makes up for other shortcomings. Goes full quite often, needs to be booked in advance.

Stayed here on business. A clean modern lobby with a bar that looked like it can be quite busy at times. Room was clean and fairly spacious by London standards, although the furnishings suggested Austin Powers. Staff was helpful and courteous. I will stay here again wen I return.

Good bits
Good decor, comfy big bed, quiet at the back of the hotel, clean, light, low light for night use in the bathroom, nice selection of fresh fruit at breakfast, lots of wardrobe space, TV speaker in bathroom.
Not so good bits
Style triumphs over practicality- Black lampshades on 'reading' lights, hairdryer fixed at opposite end to mirror. Over bath (and not very good) shower.'Make your own' tea at breakfast with flasks of not quite boiling water. No biscuits in the room.Would have expected more service at breakfast for the price. Very pricy internet access. Very small gym.
