“Not what you expect from 5*”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We have just returned after a 2 night stay which was part of a Christmas present with a show. It is recommended as easyily access to the west end, unfortunatly the only way to get there was by taxi costing £31 return trip or taking 2 buses or underground with 3 changes!!!! Not that easy I would say. We booked this hotel through the secret hotel on last minute.com which guarantees a 5 * hotel. Although the hotel is a lovely building it's freezing. We spent the whole of our stay trying to keep warm, we were unable to set the heating in our room any higher than 20c and our constant calls to reception were not answered. When checking out we reported this to be told, you should have reported it to reception!!!!!!! We paid extra for a superior room and was disappointed the only veiw we had was an internal view of the bar and into the rooms opposite. Whilst in the bar one evening in our coats trying to keep warm there was a parade of scantily clad girls carrying a 'blow up doll' whilst wearing parts of the male anatomy around their necks and on their heads, a hen party, just what you expect in a 5* hotel!!! Time and place springs to mind! As for using the spa and pool we were so cold the thought of getting undressed was out of the question. Our much needed break was ruinded and I would deffinatly not recommend this hotel. The staff don't seem to care about the standard or quality of service, they have no concept of customer care.

“Good base for a night in London”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We wanted a comfortable place to stay in London - but wanted to both dine and breakfast out - and as such the Grange was ideal. Having said that if I was not booked at a deeply discounted rate I might have been disappointed by little things like a fault with both the mini bar and tv remote control that required fixing.
We stayed in a 'superior' room which is the entry level which was clean, and comfortable if not massive. It was on the 7th floor. We were happy with its location -we walked to the Tate Modern (8 mins) Trafalger Sq (20 mins), Bermondsey (25 mins).
There are both chain restaurants and cafes in the near vicinity meaning you can avoid the seemingly overpriced breakfast with ease.
I would stay again without question.

“Good location but awful service..and not child friendly.”

We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend with our 2 year old son. While the hotel was in a convenient location and was clean. The rooms were small and overpriced. However, more irrating was the fact that reception almost never answered the phone when we rang down with issues.. We had a few... Our son fell out of the bed. A few times the first night so we requested a child's bed rail.. Not only did they not have one or couldn't get one from a sister hotel but they didn't even know what I was talking about! We also had problem with the temperature control. It was freezing outside and we couldn't get the temperature above 20 degrees C. This was eventually rectified after endless calls to reception and having to physically walk down to reception to try to speak to someone. Would I stay here again.. No .. Pity as location is great..

“Another customer given key and access to our room!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012 via mobile

Very bad service! Reception checked another couple into our room who just walked in while we were getting ready in our room. Then a porter who spoke very little English disturbed us laughing at us trying to complain. Reception were no help and our keys were de activated so we couldn't access our room while they sorted it out! Would not recommend to people who want a relaxing stay!

“Perfect hotel!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012 via mobile

Got a deal on lastmin which turned out to be this hotel. Stayed 2 nights. Very clean. Made use of the swimming pool and jacuzzi which was lovely. Only two downsides were the tv was way too small for the hotel room and positioned in the wrong place and the drinks in the bar area were quite expensive but I guess that's what you expect in a 5* hotel!! Overall would recommend and would definately stay again
