“Terrible Hotel”

Good location but the hotel is not good. I paid 116 a night, for 2 nights breakfast included. The breakfast was actually just cereal and cold meats and a little bit of toast if the waiter was around and asked you. You can hear everything in the hotel, I could hear people talking and walking around. It was so bad that in the night i had to get up and put the extractor on in the bathroom to try and drown it out. its very old worldy and has been left behind by londons other hotels. staff were friendlyish and helpful. the hotel also seemed a little dirty in the rooms. Just marks here and there that you shouldnt have to expect and the room was so small...couldnt swing a cat in there!!

“Expected Better!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

My partner and I booked an overnight stay with a theatre trip. On arrival we were told that we had been given a complimentary upgrade to an Executive Room - of course we were excited!
On inspection the bathroom left a lot to be desired. The tiles around the shower were 'pink' where they had not been cleaned and the shower screen and below was disgusting. I asked before we went out for it to be cleaned, but there was not noticeable improvement on our return if it had been.
The following morning at breakfast there was a dirty plate, including what looked like a kipper left on the buffet table. It was still there by the time we had finished about 40 minutes later. My partner asked for marmite, but the waiter did not seem to know what this was!
Our room (on the ground floor) was generally comfortable (excellent comfy bed), but the balcony overlooking the garden gave us a view of general garden rubbish and implements that had not been tidied and vegetation growing out of drainage hoppers. This spoilt the experience for us. The net curtains also could have done with a wash as they were yellowing!
The fire exit door / access to garden was locked when we returned at 10.30pm and we were also told that the bar was closed, despite being given vouchers for cut price drinks before we left!
The staff were pleasant and generally helpful at reception, but the waiting staff left a lot to be desired.
As a fairly expensive Central London I expected that standards of cleanliness and general presentation should have been excellent.

“Calm oasis in heart of city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We stayed here for a long weekend trip just after New Year, and I can't recommend it enough! Superb location, on a quiet, peaceful street right next door to The British Museum, and within walking distance to many major attractions - Oxford Street, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square... Two tube stations are conveniently located a short walk away - Russell Square and Holborn station. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly and provided excellent service.

Our room was very clean and quite spacious with a modern en-suite bathroom. We were lucky enough to have a room which faced onto the garden of the hotel - you could easily forget you were in the middle of a big city, it was so peaceful. This would be especially lovely during summertime as we had beautiful french doors which opened out to the garden.

I wouldn't advise eating breakfast in the hotel as the prices for food are extortionate. Instead, there are plenty of little cafés near by which are much better value.

Anyway, I wholeheartedly recommend the Grange Blooms Hotel - excellent service, value, location. If I ever return to London, I'll definitely be using this hotel!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the garden. Avoid getting breakfast in the hotel - visit some of the nearby c...

“Elegant and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

I paid just 75 pounds for a room next door (the Grange White Hall) but ended up in an executive double here. The room was spacious and comfortable, with elegant furnishings that made it feel somewhat special. The garden view helped to guarantee a peaceful night.

Points to note:
climate control is provided by a ceiling fan, and of course by windows that you can open! There are two radiators, although using just one made the room hot (even in December) but of course you can control them;

I had some trouble controlling the flat-screen TV: the only way to change channels and adjust volume is by using a remote control, and it was not very responsive. Anyway, no-one in their right mind would come to London to watch TV;

if your room-rate does not include breakfast, a continental breakfast costs more than 17 pounds per person. Add an additional six pounds for a full English breakfast.

Room Tip: A garden view is a good idea
