“Perfect for kings cross/st pancras”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We booked this hotel for 1 night so we could have a relaxing start to our holiday at Disneyland Paris. 2 adults 2 kids. the hotel is a very short walk from Kings Cross station and despite it being so close it is in a very quiet location overlooking a square/park with a basketball court and childrens play area. The gentleman on reception was very friendly and showed us to our room. For a one nights stay the room was good. 2 dbl beds, a tv on the wall, toilet/shower room and a closet. Its got a wooden floor and wooden blinds instead of curtains which stop it feeling cosy but it is comfortable. Now for the down side. We went to the reception in the morning for breakfast and the very friendly guy on reception took us outside and around the corner to another hotel for breakfast. we went down into the cellar (very steap steps) and was great by another guy who was the opposit to the guy on reception and when we said morning he looked up from his phone and said nothing before looking back at his phone. the breakfast room had 4 or 5 tables and the buffet breakfast consisted of just toast and ceriel. I most definetly expect more when I am away and if the hotel was busy I have no idea where they would seat everyone.
in general and in my opinion this hotel for the family room is just fine for a night or two. if you are on a budget then don't discount it for longer stays. there is plenty of choice nearby for a better breakfast and the room was ok just wasnt as cosy as I would have liked. I will stay again if the need to be in this area again arises.

“Room OK, service appalling”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We'd booked a basic double room by phone (we live in Iceland) but when we got there we were told that they'd got us/me down for a single room. Still, that turned out to be no problem, although they wanted a booking conformation which I'd never been sent. The room was small but OK, heavy curtains and facing away from the road so we didn't have trouble sleeping as it was quiet. The bedside lamp had a blown light bulb and the two towels had been reduced to one by day two of our stay. Breakfast (in the basement of a nearby partner hotel) was basic – they don't do hard-boiled eggs or cheese slices in winter. On day 2 my partner decided he didn't want breakfast so I went alone, only to be told "You're not staying here so you can't eat here." He asked to see the key, but my partner had it so the breakfast man marched me off to his boss in one of the other houses. This man was horrible and kept saying that I couldn't eat there. Eventually he asked what room number I was staying in and that seemed to do the trick. He then said I could eat breakfast after all. Both men apologised but not very sincerely.

Dear Guest

Thanks for your e mail; we read every review and take them all seriously. We appreciate any feedback as it really helps us focus on where we need to improve. We want you to have a pleasant stay with us.

According to your booking you had booked a room with shared bathroom facilites ; we offered a free upgrade to a room with full en suite facilties.
Our breakfast menu during the quiet months( January & February ) is kept to basic essentials and you can still eat as much as you like ; this is reflected in our rooms being discounted to up to 30 % during this period. This all serves to give you; the customer; much better value for money. In fact you paid £20 per person for a room with en suite , free unlimited WiFi and breakfast in central London. A great deal and a special promotion which we are running ;which we are glad has pleased our guests.
Apoligies for any mixc up over breakfast ; however we serve breakfast from 7 am to 10 am and there are many notices infomring our guests of this. You arrived at 1030 . We can make special arrangements for a later breakfast if you desire but please respect our times and a 3 hour window where you can eat breakfast is more than suffucient . We did get you a seat even after arriving 30 minutes after we had closed.

Thanks again for your time and we hope to see you again in the future

“Do not stay at this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

I booked this hotel for my family in Nov. 2011 through a web site on which reviewers purportedly gave it 3 out of 5 stars. It was the worst hotel I have ever been in, and that says something. It seemed to have served a long, tired life as either a place where kids rent rooms to party, or people rent rooms by the hour. There was an awful odor upon entering the unit. I never did identify that smell. The rugs were caked with unidentified brownish/black substances. There was a curler with the remains of someone's hair still in it and other hair products under the furniture. None of the rooms (there were supposed to be 2 bedrooms) had doors. There was no soap. The "kitchenette" had dirty plates and glasses that were firmly stuck to the shelves. In short, it was a rip-off. And the people at the front desk were totally unhelpful.

Room Tip: Just say NO to this hotel.

Dear Guest;

Thank you for taking time to write a review; we read all reviews and act on them positively by making changes where necessary. We appreciate your feeback and it helps us to really focus on where we need to improve.

You had booked our family appartment which was our directors appartment which has always been in excellent condition and has every amenity you could wish for ; the appartment was also redecorated in December 2011. The appartment is cleaned and serviced daily and is only let to business people or families like yourself.

If there is anything not up to standard please let us know immediatley and we will put it right immmediately. We have a team of staff on hand 24 hrs a day. Once you reported you were not happy I sent 2 members of staff to make things better . You refused them entry on 3 separate occasions ....You have to allow us to do our job. We waited until the following mroning and put everything how it should be .( the rugs were replaced and the kitchen was re cleaned )

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you again for your time .

“Great for location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Stayed only one night but I have to say it was very clean and very good for kings cross station as it was only 2 mins walk, staff were excellent, they allowed us to check in early at no extra cost. For £74 for a double room you get what you pay for, the room was very small and nothing like the pictures on website, but to be fair it was adequate and clean, don't think I could have stayed more than one night in that room as it really was only the right size for a single bed not double but I would stay again for one night. Overall very happy with the hotel

“Basic”

Basic hotel, not like the photos on the web. Okay for very short stay not good for people with mobility problems. Breakfast served across the street in a basement. Very helpful guy on reception desk.
