“Comfortable, clean, convenient, and ... QUIET!”
We had thought that the location near the busy Upper Richmond Road might make it noisy -- not a bit of it! The house is in a quiet road, and we had two night's excellent, QUIET, sleep! But being close to the main road meant it was literally two minutes walk to the bus stop, where buses came along every 7 - 10 minutes, and could whisk you in just a few minutes to Richmond, Barnes or Hammersmith, to connect easily with other buses, the underground or overground trains -- I was amazed at how convenient this was.
Our room was nicely furnished, with crisp linen on the beds, and the towels were large and fluffy. Sharing the bathroom wasn't a problem, and it was large, clean and well-fitted. Stella's breakfast was delicious, with a wide choice of cereals, juices, fruit, etc., and a good choice of 'eggs any way you would like, free range of course' and grilled bacon, toast, etc. Yummy! The icing on the cake (could it get better?!), was the friendly banter round the breakfast table with other guests: Ilya, a 25-year old Russian tennis player, and Mr & Mrs Otto, a Dutch couple who were visiting their son at Rohampton University -- he joined us, and we nattered on -- of course, all the visitors spoke excellent English!
Stella was very helpful in every respect and made us feel very welcome in her home. She was eager to help the Dutch couple arrange their onward transport and looked up details on the internet and phoned a local taxi company. She couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.
An excellent location for sightseeing in South West London (Barnes Village and the Wetlands bird centre, Richmond, and the Park, Kew Gardens, etc.), or for going into Central London for the main tourist attractions. Thoroughly recommended!
