My husband and I stayed in a double en-suite room during our week long stay. Some people like to stay at fancy hotels and take advantage of their gym, pool, spa, restaurants, etc., but that's not us...we aren't travelling thousands of miles to another country to do all that when we can do it at home in our own city. After a long day of touring/sightseeing, all we want to do is come back to a nice, clean and comfortable room...that's what we got with this hotel. The hotel was located in a great location. We were a 10-minute walk (I walk slow, by the way) from the Bayswater and Queensway tube stops and getting to Bayswater Road for the buses was even closer. There were tons of restaurants, pharmacies and small grocery stores right by the tube stops. We were a 10minute walk to the heart of Notting Hill. We felt very safe walking around the neighborhood, regardless of day or night. The rooms were old, but clean for the most part. I guess if I had anything to complain about, it'd be about some of the hairs I found in the bathroom that I know weren't from my husband or I and the dust behind our bed. The first couple of days we were there, the heat was REALLY turned up in our room...to the point where I had a hard time sleeping. The windows didn't open and there was no knob for the radiator behind our bed (that's how we found the dust) so we couldn't adjust the temperature. We voiced our concern to the hotel staff and they had their maintenance man come in and adjust the heat to a much more comfortable temperature. The staff was pleasant and immediately got us hooked up with the free wi-fi once we arrived. The breakfast included with our stay was very basic...cereal, yogurt, toast, juice/milk/tea/coffee. But then again, it's not like the hotel advertised a grand/gourmet breakfast buffet so we completely expected the basic breakfast we were served. All in all, we were very happy with our stay, it was well worth our money and we would stay here again. I read some of the comments before booking this hotel and I guess what a lot of people fail to realize is, this is a budget hotel, not a Ritz Carlton. Lodging in London is not cheap...if you're looking for a good place to stay that's reasonably priced, then this will definitely do the job! If you're looking for a hotel with all the bells and whistles, then you're going to pay for that...you get what you pay for, simple as that.
