“Cheap, cheerful and an HDTV!”

My husband and I booked into this hotel for one night as we were celebrating his birthday in London and were having a rare night away from the children. Having read other reviews, we weren't expecting much, but were very pleasantly surprised. My husband checked in around 5pm and the staff welcome was satisfactory, neither rude nor particularly friendly. We then had an evening out and returned around midnight.

The room was BOILING hot when we came back in, but this was easily fixed by turning the heater off and opening a window!

The view out of the window was of a brick wall, not a particularly pleasant view, but this wasn't something that concerned me in the least. If you want a room with a beautiful view, this would not be the place for you...

The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean. The bathroom was small but functional, we had an ensuite room., the bathroom contained a toilet, a sink and a shower cubicle.
There was an HDTV provided in the room which worked perfectly - in my opinion this is the holy grail of hotel facilities!

In the morning we had breakfast which was simple but adequate. The staff were friendly enough, there were lots of lovely little teapots to make yourself a pot of tea, and coffee was provided. We were brought cereal, milk, yoghurt and toast to the table, and there was a selection of jams. Nothing fancy, but it filled a hole!

Overall we were very pleased with our stay at this hotel. I suppose it depends on your expectations, but all we wanted was a comfortable bed for the night and tea and toast in the morning, all boxes ticked! My one disappointment with this hotel was the lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room, I would have liked a cup of tea in bed!

I would recommend to a friend, and I would stay here again under the same circumstances.

“You get what you pay for.”

first off the room in TINY, I mean like you need to turn sideways to get out of the room tiny and yes you do hear everything and yes there is no LIFT which makes for quite the obstacle on your first night there BUT, the price is good, the location is excellent the room was clean. We stayed in room 8 it was a double with a double bed adn single bed. I didnt like that you couldnt open the windows but we went during a nice season so after your body temp lowers from the exhaustion of the trip up the steps it turned out ok. The breakfast is meager but there is a little convenience store less then 5 min away where you can get super cheap pastries. Its a hop away from Portabello Market on the weekends which was to DIE for!!!!!! mmmmmmmm sooooo much food!!! Im unsure if I would stay there again but I think it was a great location to subways and Im not too disappointed but I might see if there was a better value for my money in the same location.

“Don't stay here!!”

This is a very basic hotel, the bedrooms are very poor with partition dividing a large bedroom to make two, this results in hearing every single noise. The bathroom is very basic and as with the bedroom needs complete refurbishment. For an extra £5 you can stay at a much better hotel in this area.

“Avoid at all costs”

I happened to need to stay in Central London on a day that literally every hotel was fully booked and ended up staying here. It was just awful in every single way.

The "bathroom" was the size of a broom cupboard, the shower was actually in the room and you couldn't walk around the bed as it was against the wall. Freezing cold in the morning as well.

The only (and I mean only) good thing was it had hot water! Oh, and leaving was quite good as well. Can't comment on the breakfast as I was so keen to get out of there, I skipped it.

I also cannot believe that some people have rated this excellent or even average. Have people really come to expect so little when they come to London?

I'm embarassed and ashamed that a hotel in London/England can have the audacity to charge money for a room that most people wouldn't keep their dog in.

Also, I assume that they call themselves the Kensington Court Hotel to con poor tourists into thinking it's in Kensington which is not.

“Never book the single room. Cant believe people have rated this excellent”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2011

Bad points. Single room is on fifth floor, no lift and garunteed to wake the occupants on floors 3 and 4 as the stairs are very noisy and the fire doors slam shut. Arrived 11:30 in evening and wanted a shower. Light didn't work in the only shower on 5 floors. Picture of single room on internet shows a chest of drawers. It does exist but what you cant see in the photo is the drawers are nailed shut! Bed very basic type but clean bedding. Didn't get to bedroom to sleep until 2 and then kept awake for another hour and a half by 3 or 4 women in the room next to me having a girls night. Woken up 5:30 by people getting up and not being quite about it ( but it very difficult to with afore mentioned floors and doors). I left before breakfast I could take no more. Not my idea of the night I wanted before attending an interview for a job!!
Good points: Only one-the lovely man on night duty who tried to fix the light and then went off and fashioned a light from an extension lead and a light fiting. Maybe the ensuite rooms are better. But I was told my room was ensuite-it wasn't unless you count the basin in the middle of the room.
My advice stay away. Yes it is in a nice area but the street it is on isn't. Full of similar hotels and run down bed sits with people you don't want to be having to walk past at night.

We are sorry to hear you have not enjoyed your time at our budget hotel. We have many happy guests that love the area the hotel is situated in and come back time after time to stay here. The hotel is centrally located in a pleasant area with Hyde Park, Notting Hill, Oxford Street, Kensington Palace and many tourist attractions within easy reach.
