“Very poor and hopeless for families”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2010

We stayed as a family of 5 as we were travelling by Eurostar to Disneyland on Xmas Eve. I was a bit apprehensive when I approached the hotel as it was stuck in a side road with dubious looking B&Bs albeit 5 minutes walk from Kings Cross and St Pancras. We had a family room with an extra bed - two rooms joined with a kitchenette. What gets me is this is totally misleading as you are led to believe that you will get a reasonable amount of space. Ok its 2 rooms. The fact is that it is nearly impossible to move when in Room 1 as the bed takes up virtually the whole space. And its a small bed!! The second room with the kitchenette was a joke. You could not get to the sink / kitchen bit as the space was filled with a table and four chairs which were so wedged in, so couldn't physically move them out! The bathroom was also ridiculously small. This whole package cost us nearly 350 pounds for two nights and apart from the reasonably good reception, I can't say one good thing about it. The breakfast was a joke. Hard boiled eggs, toast and coffee/tea in what looked to be a basement room. Appalling experience. Avoid at all costs.

“Cramped rooms - tried to put us in the attic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2010

The positives = cheap, near Kings Cross (if that's important), fairly clean

The negatives = nasty desk manager, the smallest rooms ever, not a very appealing neighborhood.

We booked a one bedroom suite with wireless internet and a kitchen. They tried to put us in room #15 on the 3rd floor (elevator goes to 2 and then climb stair, with bags, w/o help). The room was a standard.

What we ended up getting (room #7) was two 12 x 12 rooms (one with a king bed that took up the room and the other with two single beds and a really small table with 2 chairs). No living room. No couch. The kitchen didn't have a stove or oven and it had the smallest refrigerator I've ever seen (like a wine fridge). The internet was 10 euros for 4 hrs - surprise!

“1 Night Stay in London”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2010

We went up to stay 1 night in london as we were going to a gig and it would be too late to get the train so decided on a hotel.

The hotel itself was quite easy to find down a side road, just around the corner from Kings cross underground station. Getting into the hotel was a bit confusing, no keys etc, press a button and reception will let you in... it is 24hr.

Check in was quick and efficient, fill out a simple form then you get your room key.

The hotel is very clean and quite bright and warm. Although the stairs are very narrow.

Once in our room we had a look around. We unfortunately had a back room which looks out to backs of other buildings which are VERY run down. The room itself was a nice size for the two of us, but would have expected bigger as it has a kitchenette. The bathroom is a great size!! Highlight of the hotel!! Only has a shower though, this was not a problem for us, we prefer showers. The shower was very big!! The bed was extremely comfortable, and when we got back from the gig we had a great night sleep.

Only problems we came across were the heating in the room did not work. There was an in room safe but unfortunately it did not work as someone before us had not reset it!! So now I guess it will be perminently closed as only 1 or 2 people know the code!! Also the tv remote didnt work so before going to sleep we watched a bit of the olympics and had to get up again to turn it off!

The hotel felt safe due to the security system.

Another problem was on checking out, we were told paying by credit card is fine if we were waiting for a new pin number as long as we had ID. When we went to pay, the person said the machine wouldnt accept it. therefore we had to pay cash and card which left us short!!!

Due to the not so good check out, I dont think we will be returning again. It was a nice hotel, but not worth the price. There are better value hotels out there.

“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2010

My wife and I stayed at the Comfort Inn and Suites at King's Cross/St. Pancras for 3 nights January 26 to 29, 2010. We had chosen it because of its location: you can travel to King’s Cross from Heathrow by Tube (for less than £3 with an Oyster card) and Eurostar leaves from St Pancras. It was also one of the few small hotels in the area which had an elevator, not that it mattered much since our room (108, I believe) was between the ground and second floor. Yes, the room was small, a normal old-fashioned hotel room which had lost 1/3 of its surface from the addition of a modern bathroom and some space for a microwave, tea and coffee–maker, etc But we just wanted a room to sleep and that was perfect: quiet, comfortable bed, well-heated during a cold spell, very clean. I really do not understand some of the reviews I had read before booking. The staff was always very helpful: when I thought my TV remote did not work, the desk clerk came to our room and showed us the (admittedly complicated) working of the TV set. The only thing which did not work was the safe, and I was told room safes were being replaced and the hotel was safe (it was). Continental breakfast was very good: coffee, juices, pastries, cereals, hard-boiled eggs, etc. Yes, the breakfast room is small, but we never had to wait for seats. Finally, one can leave one’s luggage in a locked closet, a boon for those who, like us, planned to take an evening Eurostar. We will definitely book at the same hotel for our next trip to London. It is good value for the money.
