This seemed like an average hotel to me. The room was clean and had enough room for all three of us. With the third bed out and luggage for three people for 9 days, it was a bit squishy, but not horrible. Breakfast was good, and the sandwich we had at the bar the first afternoon was yummy, if expensive for a sandwich. There are restaurants all over, but we had to eat quickly to get to our day of sightseeing. It's right next to the Aldgate East tube station, so very convenient to public transportation. The parking garage they recommend is rather sketchy, though. It doesn't look like the best part of town (and if you go on a Jack the Ripper tour, you'll stand right next to it as he tells you about one of the murders, in what he keeps calling the worst part of the whole city in Victorian times). It's a couple of blocks away, so you have a bit of a walk with all of your luggage from the parking. We were pleasantly surprised to find the car intact at the end. There was only one desk clerk the whole time we were there, and she was busy the whole time. I had to stand around for 10 minutes before I could ask where to park, while my husband had to circle around, since there was no place to pull over.
