“Very nice London Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

I had to travel to London on business second week of January 2012 and needed to stay at a decent, reasonably priced hotel in a central location. Being a Holiday Inn Priority Club member, I first researched Holiday Inn locations in or close to Central London. I finally settled on the Holiday Inn Express, Swiss Cottage. I must say the hotel either met or exceeded my expectations. Location was great, just a couple of minutes easy walk across the road from the Finchley Road tube station, which made it very easy to get around town as well as to and from from Heathrow Airport. The area immediately surrounding the hotel has a few reasonably good eating options with an O2 Shopping Centre literally just across the road. A Sainsbury's is also just a little bit down the same road. The staff at the reception was always friendly and efficient. Upon my request they gave me a room at the back of the hotel, away from the main road. I had room 301 and this was a corner room and really nice since it was isolated at the end of a very short wing in which it was the only room - ie there were no other rooms next to it. That made it very quiet. The room was basic, as with any HI Express, but adequate and very clean. It had a tea/coffee maker so that was useful to brew my cuppa first thing in the morning. The reception staff was also very helpful with maps and directions to places I needed to get to, as well as providing me with laptop power adaptors in an emergency when I needed them late at night. Breakfast was limited but filling and with unlimited portions. i certainly could not complain. Overall, had a very pleaseant stay, great value for money and I would certainly recommend it unhesitatingly.

Room Tip: I am guessing Room No 1 on any floor would be a good option, if my experience with 301 is anything t...

“Enjoyable stay in pleasant hotel in excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We spent 3 nights in this hotel and had a great time. We were a family of four (2 Adults and 2 Teenagers) and found the room a little small but we spent very little time in the room. There is coffee\tea making facilities in the room and no problem getting more coffee\sugar\milk if needed.

Rooms were clean, staff were very friendly and always willing to help. The breakfast area was a little busy and there seemed to be a lack of plates\cutlery at times but not a big issue. Breakfast was great considering the price you're pay per night.

The hotel is close to Finchley road tube station which will take you into central London in minutes. We purchased a Oyster card for the 3 days we were in London which can be used for buses and trains and is the cheapest way to pay for tickets. There is a deposit of 5 pounds for the Oyster card but you get it back when handing it back at any tube station. The Oyster card can be topped up at any tube station or tobacconist's. Camdon Market is a 10\15 minute bus ride away from the hotel.

There is a Sainsbury's across the road in the mall and was great to purchase still water\sandwiches etc. Also, in the mall was 'Nandos' which serves fantastic chicken meals and burgers.

We got to Heathrow via the tube from Finchley road to Green Park and from Green Park to Heathrow (about 5 pounds). If you have a lot of Luggage this may be cumbersome as there are many steps and getting to some of the lifts maybe be difficult when the stations are busy.

Would definitely stay again as it was pretty much central and excellent value for a family of 4.

“Great location for quick tube journey to central London”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Booked last minute, we had a great deal which included breakfast and a family room with two young children. The hotel was ideal as it was a stone's throw away from the tube station (so not long to walk in the dark with two kids) and only a short tube journey to the centre.

Room was a family room and was clean, comfortable and fresh - ideal after a long day walking legs off at the Natural History Museum/Science Museum/Buckingham Palace and Madame Tussauds! Breakfast was a little disappointing though. There were no clean cups or plates and we had to wait a long time for this to be rectified. The breakfast was buffet style and the area in which to do this was tiny - not ideal with a hotel full of people! It didn't matter though as we were eager to start our day again.

Staff were friendly and helpful and made the children feel welcome which is always nice.

Brilliant alternative to really expensive central London hotels.

“I love this hotel!!!”

All London hotels should go and study here as this Hotel knows how to get it right!!! From the moment you walk in, you are made to feel so welcome as the reception staff make you feel right at home!!!
This is my second stay at this hotel, first in December 2011 and now in January 2012 and I can't fault it. Rooms lovely and clean, wonderful breakfast, housemaids cheerful and charming, hotel staff fall over themselves to help you, I could go on and on!!!

Yes it is on Finchley road and it has a noise factor, but after exploring London all day you normally crash out and don't notice it.

Room Tip: You can always request a room on the backside of the hotel.
