“Great for business”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

II have recently returned from 5 days at this hotel. From the moment I arrived the experience was one of professionalism, the place is spotless and has everything you need for a few nights stay.

The hotel itself couldn’t be any closer to the railway station and is a little noisy but only if you open the windows.

The gym is adequate for a short stay; don’t expect lots of loose weights or a swimming pool.

The rooms are your typical hotel room yopu would find in most Novotel type rooms .. Very clean and have split bathroom / toilet.

The breakfast was the highlight for me, not only were the staff mostly French, but amazingly efficient. The food was very good, buffet style with everything from maple syrup to brie.

All in all a great place to stay if you don’t mind the 10 mins into London city or you’re on business in the area.

Room Tip: Try and get a suite, all the rooms are superior so don’t fall for that old chestnut.

“Greenwich - London at its best.”

Anyone who thinks that Greenwich is out of the way is wrong. The DLR puts you in Docklands in 10 minutes and the Olympic Village in 20. The overland takes you to Charing Cross in less than 15. The O2 is just a short bus ride away. And then there's the river! This very comfy hotel - not too big not too small - is perfectly located adjoining Greenwich Station. Greenwich itself is a short walk and has so much to offer. There is loads to see and plenty of great places to eat and super riverside pubs.

“Good value for London”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We stayed for 2 nights between Christmas and New Year. The room was a good size and comfortable. We had no problems with the temperature of the room and we like cool rooms. Very clean and had everything you needed. Breakfast had an excellent choice and restaurant staff are helpful and cheerful- service was very quick even though they were busy. Reception staff were helpful and sorted out the car parking for us.We arrived early well before the normal check in time and they let us have our room. The car park is under the hotel and is a bit small with tight spaces but is a bonus for London at quite a reasonable cost.
Pull up at the front of the hotel and go to Reception before you park the car as the receptionist will have a look for a space on the CCTV or go and have a look for you.
The hotel is in a good location in Greenwich which is a pretty place with plenty of shops and restaurants. Next to the overland railway station which has frequent links to Cannon street Station or Charing Cross. Don't get caught like we did though as we went to travel back to the hotel in the evening around 9.15 from Cannon street station where we had got off to find it closes at 8.00pm. We then had to wait in lashing rain for a bus to take us to Charing Cross to get back to the hotel.

The overland journey is easier than the underground journey and definately easier than the tortuous bus journey from the city - Route 188 and over an hour of stopping and starting - nightmare!!

the reception area has 2 PCs for internet access which is free but try getting the kids off them. Every time we went to use them they were playing on them or sometimes just sat there messing about pretending to use them!!

Excellent hotel, good value for money, recommended if you want to stay out of the city and park your car for a decent price

“Managers indifferent to overheated room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

My wife and I stayed at the Novotel, Greenwich in late December 2011 in room 223.
At night my clock thermometer registered 25c. Opening the window reduced the temperature to 21c but the noise from the pub opposite went on till 2.30am.. I complained to reception and asked to be moved to a cooler room with air conditioning that worked. Reception told me that it was known that the A/C didn’t work.
After returning home I wrote to the central London office to complain of the poor sleep environment. I received an e-mail reply which stated - “I am making further investigations with the hotel management and will be replying to you shortly.” There has been no reply either from the Novotel nor the central office.
