Returning from a trip abroad and before heading home for Kent, we decided to spend a couple of days in London. We had booked a room facing the Hyde park at Elysee, as we had stayed at this hotel before and had done our homework on hotel rates in this area. The location of this hotel is ideal for us and it's only a ten min walk from the Heathrow Express terminal at Paddington Station.
Everything that we require in a good budget hotel was catered for: clean and comfortable ensuite rooms (albeit small, but hey, this is London) with tea/coffee making facilities, flat screen TV, in room safe (a must for me) and the welcoming AC which was utilised to the full during the unexpected heat wave in london.
We found the staff very helpful and knowledgeable, especially the tall blonde lady at the front desk (sorry, I can't recollect her name, but this may be due to my old age!)
I am not one for a full English breakfast, but here, it seems adequate: cereals, scrambled eggs and toast with tea/coffee.....but I must say that the breakfast room could do with some upgrading, it looks a bit tired. So does the bar, which lacked an atmosphere, but this was not an issue with me - there's a traditional English pub right across the road and they pull a lovely pint!!
Overall, a great improvement since we last stayed here and would most certainly stay here again.
Room Tip: Room at the back are quieter and ask for room facing the park
