“Excellent hotel for a short stay in London”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I booked two double rooms for my wife and I and another couple. We had booked 2 standard doubles (called deluxe I think) for one night, but actually got a upgrade in one room. The standard room was quite cosy but clean and more than aduequate for a short stay. The upgrade to the executive double was due to availability and the room was excellent with a enormous bed and jacuzzi bath in the en-suite(only a standard size bath). Breakfast was pretty basic but met the description of what was provided and if any one complains about it they should spend a bit more on a hotel that does cooked breakfast!
Overall the hotel was very nice, clean and good value. One minutes walk from the tube and Hyde Park.

“Convenient, Clean and Well-Maintained Hotel”

I had an enjoyable one night stay at Troy; the staff were extremely helpful and patient, and it's very handily located near Queensway underground. You basically walk out of the tube station, turn right and walk along for a few minutes until you see Queensborough Terrace on your left. I also felt safe walking to the hotel as a female single traveller, even though it was very late by the time I arrived in Bayswater.

The few negatives were that the bathroom door kept jamming and as a previous reviewer said, the floorboards were very squeaky. I stayed there mid-week but it was still quite noisy, just with hearing people moving around in the adjacent rooms.

Aside from that, it's a great find and I don't think you can go wrong when you consider the price, location and cleanliness of the hotel.

excellent location, right opposite hyde park and about a 3 minute walk to Queensway undeground, local shops, food and restaurants. hotel was very clean and tidy. There was a guy at reception i think his name was Jensen, he was extremely helpful and friendly and assisted us with organising tours and transfers from the hotel.

the only downside about the hotel i'd say is that, i think there must be a music school or something next door and someone just kept playing the piano and singing loudly late at nights or could've been the tv next door not sure.

Room Tip: i'd suggest asking for a room on higher floors as it can get dark on the lower floors by surroun...

“Clean rooms at great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

Single traveler. I didn't expect much, and I found the hotel up to my expectations.

Pros:

-Clean hotel
-Great location: walking distance to Bayswater and Queensway tube stations (from where you can get to all of London in 20 min or so), and also walking distance to many attractions if you are a bit of a walker!

-Good price,
-Good breakfast

Cons:

-REALLY slow and unreliable WiFi (in fact, so slow that my iPhone occasionally considered the link disconnected). Some of emails and iMessages I sent from the hotel never made it to the intended recipients, or were received hours late.

-Squeeky floors: Floor timbers move so much when you walk on them that your neighbours may think it is an earthquake.

“good location, average accommodation”

Stayed for 5 nights

location: excellent, close to public transport and very central

breakfast: very basic, perhaps the most boring breakfast out of all the hotels we
stayed in.

comfort: the room was okay, the walls were reasonably thin. also there were limited
power points so if you wanted to charge your phone, boil water etc you had to do it on the floor.
we were given two separate beds even though we stayed as a couple. the floor was pretty dirty and needed a good vacuum.

service: this varied. one man was particularly friendly. however the others had limited english and i got the impression they did not care much about guest comfort.

i wouldnt stay here again, however we still enjoyed ourselves. just was not what we were looking for.

Room Tip: my tip would be to not expect much and you wont be disappointed.
