This B&B is run by Winkle and Philip Haworth in a leafy avenue in Streatham Hill, London.
Our welcome was very warm and having made a train journey from Perth Scotland to King's Cross then a 59 bus to Streatham Hill were delighted to be offered a pot of tea and some cake on arrival. The house generally is well decorated and furnished and the twin room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. There is a small flat-screen TV with terrestrial channels, which was fine for our purposes. Coffee and tea-making facilities are also provided with a variety of teas. The bathroom is separate and recently renovated and decorated with a bath and hand-held shower (no shower cabinet). Breakfast was full English which was cooked on the spot with some bright and cheery conversation with Winkle about our trip and shared experiences. In summer the garden would be an excellent feature with some obvious expertise in choice and placement of flowers and shrubs and garden design which Winkle is obviously very keen on.,
We were offered good advice on travel from Streatham Hill to our son's flat and the Imperial War Museum which we also wanted to see. The area is well-served by buses and overland train, but the nearest underground is at some distance. The 59 bus however took us where we wanted to courtesy of a newly-purchased pair of Oyster cards - very easy to use. At £100 per night for the room and B&B this was very good value - not the cheapest but the quality made up for that.
