I went on a school trip with my year to london a few days ago
to see london. Me and my room mates were a bit annoyed at the fact we had to make our own beds. Also, the bath room was very small and one of my room mates didn't even want to shower ; i did but didn't want to! i also thought that the dinners were a bit bland and my friend is a vegetarian and she didn't have a wide vatiety of food at breakfast time. They also didn't give us any sauses. All of the people who went didn't like the puddings at all!!! For the first night we got strawberry moose and it was to tangy!!! And on the second night we got jelly that was to runny!!!The only thing i really liked was the location!!!

  • Liked — the location
  • Disliked — the room was really untidy

We stayed here with my two children at a very busy time of the year. Yes, the "ensuite" was tiny but we had a quiet and spacious family room with clean bedding. The hostel was basic but clean and all that we wanted as a base for our trip to London. My kids loved the buffet breakfast - especially the toast machine! Staff were busy but polite and friendly. I would recommend this hostel as a good, clean, safe, value for money hostel in a convenient location.

We found some rat droppings on the floor, but appart from that it was fine. I didn't shower though as there was little room and it smelt strange (late 17th century musky scent) I suppose it's better than nothing =]

It was ok, the rooms were cramped, and a bit manky to be honest. Had to make our own beds - was not impressed. Bathrooms were horrid - had a leg in the toilet whilst in shower it was that cramped. Also the window was broken - fell on me when i tried to open it. Plugs were too far from the mirror. Met some lovely people though! Elevators were too slow and some free chocolate wouldnt have gone a miss! Don't even get me started on the cantine area! It smelled disgusting and the food wasn't much better. Its a bloody good job that starbucks was within walking distance. The temperature in the rooms was practically unbearable, however the staff were only too happy to oblige when asked to turn down the heating. All in all, we miss London, but not the hostel!

  • Liked — The people we were sharing with
  • Disliked — The pathetic excuse for a bathroom!

Meininger Baden-Powell House was terrible. The staff unfriendly and rude. Many things were not working, including the elevator! The water cooler didn't work, but the worst was the hallway door locks that were broken. When I asked for help on the broken lock the clerk was rude and unhelpful. All I wanted was to get to my room. The elevator not working, and I was tired of walking up and down the stairs to get help. The clerk claimed he was too busy and I would have to wait. After waiting over half an hour for help, the clerk finally showed up with some tools. My advise, DON'T STAY AT THE BADEN-POWELL!
