First of all, this hotel is not very close to a tube – 15 minutes or so on foot – but is only about 5 minutes from the overground with good connections to St Pancras and beyond. Either way you can use your Oyster card. Both walks are fine if you are travelling in the daytime or as a couple/group etc but may be something to consider if you are a lone person, especially if travelling at night. The walk to/ from Cricklewood station is not great as it goes under the railway bridge and past B&Q which might be a bit intimidating for some. The area appears to be a bit run down. Having said that, if you are generally an upbeat person it probably won’t bother you, and it is very close.
There are lots of inexpensive eateries nearby. We didn’t use them this time but previously have had a great curry just along the main road from the hotel.
Inside, the hotel is very pleasant with nice public spaces, clean rooms and friendly, helpful management. There is a public space available for working which we tried to use after we had checked-out. Unfortunately all the noise of the lobby carries up there as it is on a mezzanine, so it is OK if you really need to get something done, but not great. If you want a drink whilst working, it is quite a trek as the door to the restaurant (which leads off this mezzanine) is kept locked. Not that this is a big issue but it means you need to pack everything away to request a drink and then set it up again afterwards.
There is the usual in-room stuff (Tea, Coffee and toiletries etc) but no decent lights over the bathroom mirror so if you need lights for make-up or whatever this could be an issue... The upstairs rooms all had the windows locked closed - the only windows that will open are downstairs (which I think may be a security issue as they open to the street). The management told me that this is because they don’t have restrictors on them yet, so this may get solved soon. What it means at the moment though is that if you like to sleep with a window open you need to be ground floor at the front – with just a narrow strip between you and the pavement. We soon got used to this – but might have felt differently about it had we stayed on a Friday/Saturday night. There was an air-con/heating system in the room but we couldn’t reset it.
The in-room TV was fine. It only has access to one radio station (Radio 2) and our room didn’t have this tuned in. We did not use the internet facility in the room but at check out I thought I’d look something up on the computer in the lobby – only to find this was £1 for 10 minutes. I think if you need the internet it is worth a call to see how much the charges are.
The breakfast is nothing to write home about – though it offers a full English or help-yourself continental. The poached eggs were OK, if a little too well set and the scrambled eggs tasted as though they had been waiting about rather than freshly cooked. The staff on the day we had breakfast were not at all alert to what you might need. They forgot cutlery for example and left us waiting for things we had requested - even though they were not very busy. If you are paying extra for this and don’t have it rolled into your room rate, it certainly isn’t worth the £14 (£15?) for an “English”.
The hotel bar is the old pub so has lots of character. It has leather seating and lots of wood. Very traditional and plays to its Irish roots.
All in all this is a hotel that will suit us some of the time. If we are not needing to pop in and out but can be in London all day (and especially if we are travelling mid-week) we would certainly look at it again. We booked through a third party website and got a great deal – much better than a similar quality hotel nearer the centre - so were generally very pleased.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Tripadvisor.co.uk.
We were delighted to learn that most of your expectations were met, and I shall personally ensure that your kind comments are passed onto all those concerned.
I was of course a little disappointed to read that you found the hotel to be a little far out from central London, and we sincerely hope this will not deter you from returning.
We very much look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future and in the meantime, if we may assist further, please do not hesitate to contact us direct.
Sincerely,
Francesco Palminteri
