“A Great Safety Net.”

Stayed here recently for an extended period due to an a bereavement. We did not know the area or what hotels where available We found it originally on a late booking site but then extended our stay directly with the hotel.
The staff where warm courteous and helpful throughout our stay they ensured that we had everyhing we needed and where able to give us helpful advice about local amenities.
The breakfasts where suitable for both Vegetarian and meat eaters, you where asked each morning what your prefence would be and it was prepared quickly.
Our room itself was tidy and warm which was essential as it was cold on many of the days we stayed. It was a bit noisy on the first night or so but it did settle down.
I think you could have asked the staff for anything and i think they would have tried to help. we enjoyed the stay despite the circumstances of us being in london.

“You get what you pay for...”

I wasn't expecting much from this B&B, all we needed was a clean bed to collapse in at the end of the day. Luckily the sheets were clean and crisp. The quilt on top of the bed wasn't the best and had cigarette burn holes in it.

The bathroom was usable although not the cleanest and had a broken toilet seat.
We had to tune the television in ourselves and the reception was awful. There were also dodgy electrics.
The walls downstairs were wafer thin, luckily for us our neighbours were quite quiet.
Service at the reception was odd to say the least, and we often felt like we were not welcome. The room was advertised as having a hair-dryer though it did not and honestly it was more trouble than worth to complain to reception.
We didn't bother with breakfast so I cannot comment on that.

One thing that was worrying about our room was the bars on the outside of the window, had there been a fire in the main building we wouldn't of been able to escape.

Proximity to Tufnell Park tube station is about a 10 minute walk which is really good for the price of the room, and there are some local kebab and corner shops which is nice.

We weren't there to spend much time in the hotel so we were grateful just to have a clean bed and a warm room to sleep in, while I probably wouldn't stay here again, if you're after somewhere cheap and don't mind roughing it a bit then this place is one to consider.

“This place was bad in 1985 nothing has changed I see”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

This place was bad in 1985 - The outside look ok - Friends living closeby booked us in for a week. Three people travelling together - mother and two adult sons. The room had a double and single bed. The bed linen was dirty and stained the ceiling paper was hanging off, the curtains needed replacing. We booked mother into a local B & B and brother and I stayed two nights before we could get into the B & B which was cleaner etc.
Being clean isn't that difficult so why is this place so DIRTY.
Cheap doesn't mean Dirty is acceptable.

Room Tip: Just don't stay at this place Find another even if you have to pay a little more

“Avoid - Riddled with Bed Bugs - Dirty - Unclean Beds and Rooms”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

I urge anyone considering staying here to avoid it at all costs.

We woke up our first morning itchy and scratching, we had no idea until we moved the bed (we did this because the mattress was completely worn out, had no support and was sagging so much that it was flat in the middle) that the room had bugs, we caught 3 and put them in the sink, looked up pictures of the bugs on the internet which confirmed they were bed bugs, we then complained at reception, they didn't bother to come and look at them, they offered us another room.

We set up our stuff in another room and within half an hour the bugs started showing up in there too, we have photographic and video evidence of them scuttling across the bed. No-one seemed bothered about the problem when we reported it.

I am absolutely disgusted with our stay, even one night was too much, the rooms also had badly fitted and broken fixtures, were smelly and grubby looking, had dirty, stained bed linen and the showers had awful black mould in them.

In total we tried 4 different rooms in the space of a day and a half, all of them were uninhabitable in one way or another.

Please avoid this place, I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what we did staying here, spend a bit extra and go elsewhere.

“I really don't know what people are expecting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

What £35 hotel have you guys who are complaining stayed in before that has raised your expectations so high to expect more than what you get at this place? Can I have its details please?!

I stayed here for 2 nights in September 2011 because I couldnt get my usual place and found this on expedia.
I literally checked in at 2pm, put my bag in and left for the day not returning until after midnight. I had a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed (with no bugs), used a clean and well running toilet and shower the next day (with fresh towel and soap supplied) and headed out again. Unfortunately woke too late for breakfast so can't comment on that.

I was out the next day and came back to a made bed and tidied room and had another good nights sleep with another clean shower in the morning. Really what more do you want or expect? Its perfectly satisfactory. Yes the rooms are small but remember what you are paying. I stayed in room 22 and it was fine for my needs.

The hotel is about a 7 minute walk from Tufnell Park tube which is 10-15 mins tube ride into Leicester Square. If you come back late then I can heartily recommend Turfnell Park kebabs opposite the tube station for the walk home.
