“Never again!!!”

I booked thi hotel as it was near to where some friends were having a reception, I wish I hadn't. On arrival the staff were extremely rude and unhelpful and pretended not to understand what I was saying (I gave up). No help was offered with my bags and there is no lift. Upon opening the door to my room I was nearly knocked out by the heat of the room and the stench of smoke in the room (which was strange as I had asked for a non smoking room). I saw little point in complaining due to the staffs attitude when I arrived. So in cold weather I found myself having to open the window and leave it open. There was no shampoo or shower gel so I asked reception where tesco was and they grunted and said there was a co-op down the road.

In the morning a felt like a cup of tea unfortunately it was then that I noticed chewing gum stuck on top of the self. At this point I felt Physically sick and began to question the cleanliness of the room and left. As breakfast was included I thought there's no way they could go wrong with a piece of toast. Upon opening the door I was faced with a packed room full of long tables (bit like scout camp). The food looked foul and the staff couldn't be bothered to seat people. Needless to say I left with no food.

“pay extra to stay closer to london”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2010

we booked this hotel as we were on a budget. it really is a no frills hotel. while room was clean, bed and pillows were very uncomfortable.rooms and corradors are very noise, full conversations from other rooms can be heard. while all the staff working at breakfast were pleasent the food could have been better. a full english is advertised but only consists of cerals, toast and a hot breakfask of eggs, saussages and bacon. front of house staff elsewhere were not rude but not very friendly. a smile or a hello would go along way.

“A lovely room at a great price”

We were looking for a reasonably priced hotel for a one night stay close to the centre of London with free parking. This hotel was a real find - the price was unbelievably cheap yet the quality of the room and service first class. The breakfast was called 'continental' and to be honest was fairly rudimentary but cheerfully presented and plenty of it - just don't expect a fry up. Lovely coffeee, toast, cereals etc. We'll definitely use this hoetel again.

“Ok for a single night but breakfast was a nightmare”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2010

Arrived late at night but reception was efficient and helpful. We had two single rooms for the teenage children and both said they were clean and adequate but stank of smoke which is unacceptable nowadays. Our room was down a suprisingly long corridor but was clean and roomy. Any noise at night was caused by ignorant guests, but this is common in many hotels and just a lack of respect and education of younger people. Went down to breakfast but it was horrendous, There were several long tables with 8 or 10 people to a table and no room. The noise was unacceptable and we didnt even stop to see if the food was good. We found a small cafe on the high street within a few hundred metres and enjoyed the food there. All in all, the hotel was perfectly adequate for guests in transit and reasonable value for money and I would return there as it is local to members of our family.

“Distinctly average, but reasonable value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2010

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on a short break in London. Its location is reasonably close to Streatham Hill station for access to London's centre, and the free parking is excellent.
My room was on the top floor, had a distinctly retro decor (but clean, so not a problem), and was swelteringly hot. Even with the window wide open all night, and the wall fan switched on, the temperature was around 25 Celcius. The bed was fairly comfortable, but the pillows rather hard. There was some hot-ish water in the morning, but when I showered in the afternoon, the water was cold.
The staff were friendly and helpful on reception, but the breakfast was very poor. Avoid the processed cheese and reformed ham at all costs.
All in all, the room was ok for the price I paid (£40 per night through alpharooms), but the temperature of my room and the breakfast let the hotel down.
