“Nice, affordable little hotel in central location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I spent 2 nights in this very conveniently located hotel. The reception was very pleasant and after carrying the luggage to the 3rd floor I found myself in a relatively small but spotless and reasonably comfortable room. This was the first time that a supposedly 3-star hotel in an English city lived up to the expectation. The beds were comfortable, the heating worked well and the room was equipped with further ammenities, such as electric kettle, instant coffee and teabags, flatscreen TV and hairdryer. The bathroom was small but modern and very clean and left nothing to be desired.

In the mornings complimentary continental breakfast is served, offering a choice of breads and buns, coldcuts, cheese, cereals, cakes, jams, yoghurt and even Nutella.

Pimlico Underground is less than a 5-minute walk away and walking to Victoria Station takes about 10 minutes. Despite the central location in a beautiful residential area of London there is not too much noise from traffic or night owls. The hotel staff recommended several nearby restaurants and both restaurants I tried (thai and Italian) were fantastic and not expensive at all (mains around £ 7-10)

To sum it all up - I had a really pleasant stay, the best but by far not the most expensive I've ever had in London. I would definitely go there again!

“Lovely staff, perfectly clean but needs soundproofing”

I stayed for four nights last week, working in London, so staying in hotels a lot.

Room was on the third floor and (as is common for this type of building), there are no lifts. With high ceilings it means you have quite a hike to your room.

My room (No. 14) door didn't fit in the frame terribly well, with the result that whenever anyone outside moved, or opened their door, the door rattled really loudly. This might sound minor but was very annoying.

The wifi didn't work (apart from in the lounge).

There was a kettle, etc in the room with lots of tea but no coffee. Odd.

Every night when I came back, the sash window was slightly open and the heating belting out full blast. You have to close the window to stop traffic noise from the road. With the sash windows it was very very hard to get the window closed.

On a far more positive note. The room was spotlessly clean and the decor fine. Every member of staff I met was very friendly and polite (in fact they were some of the most friendly staff I've come across) and the continental breakfast was fine. It was also good value for the location.

All in all it was a nice hotel but the negatives, while seeming minor, stopped me getting a good night's sleep.

Room Tip: don't stay in Room 14 unless the door has stopped rattling

“Great location”

Stayed for four nights in November as a solo, female traveler. Yes, the hike up the stairs is somewhat annoying, especially with luggage, but having great food, shopping and sights within easy walking distance is worth it. Also the price is right, the room was spotless and comfortable, and I felt safe walking around the neighborhood in the evenings. The staff is friendly and helpful. I will stay here again. I did hear my neighbors going in and out of their rooms, but mostly at the back of the hotel it's quite. I had a nice view of the backsides of the row houses behind the hotel. A pleasant view.

“nice place, good location”

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel and enjoyed it. The rooms were small but adequate and very clean. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was quite good. The stairs are a bit daunting, if you have heavy luggage ask for a room on a lower floor. Also a back room rather than a front one, as some noise from the street can be heard thru the single pane windows. The location is great, you can walk to Victoria St and Westminster etc. Pimlico is a lovely area, my choice for any stay in London!

Room Tip: Get a room at the back!

“Good location and good value for money (if you are fit enough to reach your room!)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We liked this hotel, it had a good price (110pounds per night, 1 double room with ensuite bathroom), and a good location (few minutes from Pimlico tube station on Victoria line).
Positive: the room was pretty new, nice victorian style, good size bathroom (especially the shower), the staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine (continental, no eggs). Free WI-FI but only up to the second floor.
Negative: we were on the 4th floor, so a lot of narrow and steep stairs. No safe in the room and no chain lock on the door, but we could leave the passports in the safe at the reception (free). Our room was facing Belgrave road and it was quite noisy, although there is not much traffic on the road... we could also hear a lot of noise when people were walking around or using the bathrooms... quite annoying during the night. Our double bed was pretty small.
We were asked to pay for our whole stay as soon as we arrived, I found it a bit odd.
Overall we liked the hotel and we would suggest it to friends, given they do not mind the noise and the stairs.
