“Business Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Booked this hotel for 6 of us all single rooms or sole occupancy for a conference. Hotel has just had a refurb and it shows. Hotel clean & tidy, staff were helpful. Rooms were good, also clean no problems at all. Breakfast was very good for a Continental, I had originally organised full cooked for us but simply not required. We had a great choice of cereals, breads, juices and cheese etc. Would stay again, also handy to Bayswater Tube station.
The only minor thing would be no free wifi, you must pay per 24 hrs and cost at present around £9 a day.

“Love the location. Small but nice rooms.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

We thought the street frontage was lovely, and the convenience to the tube fantastic. Okay not huge rooms, but good value. We found the staff very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast really good. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

“Mmmmm....like a filme, the Good, the Bad and the ugly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Work booked me into this hotel so it wasn't my choice, however on arriving I could see why so many Trip Advisors are mentioning the same things. My room was a good size, double bed, flat screen TV and presentable. The downside was the size of the bathroom (very small), the step into the room (which tripped me everytime I went into the room) and just a few problems with attention to detail. For example the bathroom looked clean, but on closer inspection the toilet handle was covered in limescale, the showever head was also covered in some type of limescale/mould and the back of the sink unit was thick with dust.

On the first day I had decided to have an English breakfast and arrived with 40 minutes to enjoy it before I had to leave. I waited for the waitresses to come out of the kitchen, however they stayed hidden away. After 15 mins of waiting I got some toast (one toaster was broken) and ate my toast, another 15 mins passed, the kitchen staff still not coming out to take my order or acknowledge me. With just 5 mins to go before I headed out to my meeting a full english breakfast was placed on my table....literally placed without any explaination. I hadn't been asked how I wanted my eggs, what I wanted in the breakfast etc so I found mushrooms (tinned and very pale) and tomato (tinned) on my breakfast which I didn't want.

I thought it would be inpolite not to eat it, so I tried and I have to admit, it was the worst breakfast I have ever had in a hotel before, the sausages seemed boiled, the bacon also tasted like it had been boiled, not fried...and the rest was neither fresh or cooked properly. I left the basement breakfast room ASAP with a full plate still at my table. That's the ugly, the bathroom was the bad, however the good parts are the location, the general look of the rooms and the excellent transport links. Would I take my family to this hotel? No. Would I booked myself in? Maybe for a few nights. Overall, it was average with elements of poor. If you don't expect much, apart from a clean bed, some nice places to eat out, pubs and good transport into London, then book. If you are looking for perfection and you are a picky traveller, then maybe this might not be for you.

Room Tip: I was on the ground floor, which wasn't too bad...avoid the basement rooms however.

“Clean & Cheap - pleasantly surprised!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

I have stopped in several central London hotels but usually work is footing the bill. This time I was paying so wanted somewhere cheap but without compromising quality.
Searching the internet for a hotel was difficult as cheap usually meant poor reviews. Luckily I found the Princes Square, although the web site said it had a private bathroom, which suggested that it was elsewhere - it wasn't though.
Hotel is in walking distance of both Queensway and Bayswater tube stations and close to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens.
Don't know about disabled access into the building but there were steps outside as you could see on Google street-view. Reception spacious and a modern lift to the floors plus staircase.
My room cost £65.00 with key-card access. It wasn't the biggest room but was big enough with twin beds, dressing table, chair, armchair and table, and an en-suite. It was immaculately clean and the beds were really comfortable with a Freeview Samsung LCD TV mounted on wall. Tea/coffee with two decent sized mugs rather than cups and a new kettle.
The en-suite had a shower instead of a bath and the only complaint I could make was that the water was struggling to drain away and I was starting to paddle. That's the only negative I could find.
Continental breakfast was included, cereals, toast, etc. For an extra £5.00 you can order a full fry-up.
Biggest surprise was seeing how many guests were actually stopping in the hotel, probably about 30 at breakfast but I hadn't heard anyone so the soundproofing must be good too.
Check out 11.00am so time to watch Jeremy Kylie!!

“Good hotel and a value for London”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Overall this hotel was very enjoyable. All the staff behind the desk were helpful and friendly. The room and bathroom were a good size, and importantly very clean and confortable. Our room looked very recently updated: newer paint and furniture.

The rooms were quiet but not silent, but over three nights we never had any disturbances. The neighborhood is more residential with nice London character, which was charming. Not far from any main tourist sites, the West End, or a walk to Notting Hill. It is a close walk to the Circle, District, and Central tube lines (via Bayswater or Queensway stations).

We usually don't take the included breakfast, but we did eat breakfast during this trip. The included breakfast was good - no complaints.

Overall, considering the high prices in London, I was very pleased with the room rate and the value received. We didn't have any problems, but given our experience with all the staff members we met I have not doubt they would have been able to help with any issues.
