“Excellant value”

This is a good choice for a budget family hotel, paid £44.50/night at the weekend for a family of 4. The room was large enough with a sofa bed for the kids. The bathroom/shower were perfectly good; with TV, coffee making facilities, small wardrobe/drawers in the room. The hotel is about half a mile from the Hangar lane junction on the A40, just off the north circular and has free parking. The area around isn't pretty, just a succession of large furniture stores/chinese food market, but we were using it for sleeping not the sweeping views of the north circular. There are 2 tube stations stonebridge park/hangar lane about half a mile away or 10-15 minutes walk. The trip into central london takes about 20 minutes on the tube. Close by is the ace cafe- a 'famous' cafe for motorbike / souped up / sport car enthusiasts. Although the area is a bit grim we had no worries about walking back at 10pm. The buffet breakfast is pretty good - croissants/currant buns/bread rolls, cereal, yoghurts, cheese, jam etc, toast, coffee, tea, fruit juices to 10am/11am weekdays/weekends - which is free. We didn't eat in the evening there, but the bar seemed busy.
Overall excellant value especially for families, the area isn't pretty, but its safe to leave the car there, the only negative point is the gurgling pipes. We were on the first floor and every time someone flushed the toilet etc there was a fairly noisy gurgling sound from the pipes!

“Very out of the way, but excellent value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2005

This is really a hotel for drivers. With a car, its easy to reach from the North Circular ring road and there is lots of parking. Without a car, you need to go to Stonebridge Park station (Zone 3 on the Bakerloo Line or mainline rail from Euston), turn right and right again and walk for 10 minutes. This is a relatively deserted industrial area despite the traffic rushing past, and I would be less keen to do it late at night.

Its a new building so everything is in good condition. No bath, only a shower, and no view to speak of, but if all you want is a bed factory then this is better than most. Tea making facilities are provided, as is the usual HIE free breakfast. At £39 per room per night with breakfast - the standard weekend rate at the moment - its excellent value for money, especially for families.

“Rooms ok, restaurant bad, locale difficult”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2005

Rooms are very clean, modern and functional. Mine was quite spacious. Obviously recently thoroughly renovated. Rooms represent a good value for the money.

I had dinner in the restaurant and the food was terrible.

The area is extremely difficult to drive in due to heavy traffic congestion and it is quite industrial with very few restaurant choices apparent. Walking would seem to be even more difficult although I didn't try.
