“Good cheap stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Good room -if a bit knocked about at the edges! Comfy bed. Warm 'human' welcome. Restuarant very spartan, but a tub of 'Oat so simple' in the room sufficed for breaky and there's a good selection of eating pubs over the bridge at Kew green. For the price (£39) couldnt complain at all. Lots of buses stop outside. NIce view of the river.

“It's absolutely fine!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

I have stayed at many Travelodge's including this one once before, so I was rather alarmed and worried by the negative feedback this hotel has received recently.
However, from start to finish my stay was just fine.
Firstly, this is not a 5* hotel so if that's what you want, why book a Travelodge??
The reception staff were all very friendly and helpful, the room (a double) was an adequate size, clean, serviced daily, beverages were plentiful and the TV worked fine as did the remote. The car park, which incidentally has surveillance cameras, was occupied by several high range cars, Merc's, Audi's, Jags, BMW's and as far as I am aware there was no damage or crime reported.
The external doors and lifts only work if a key card is used, reception is manned 24/7 and as a single female traveller I did not feel threatened or unsafe at any time day or night; the bus stops right outside the door.
There are no hair driers in rooms, when I asked at reception one was supplied without problems. A guest asked for extra pillows, again provided without any problems.
In fact nothing appeared to be too much trouble for the staff.
So......a word of advice, if you want value for money and clean, comfortable, convenient accommodation, then this hotel ticks all the boxes, if you want posh choose the Hilton!!!!

Room Tip: Doubles are located on the side of the building and have views of the Thames and the church

“what do you expect for the money?”

Having vowed never to stay in a Travelodge again I found myself seduced by the low price. Bed sagged in the middle, vacuum cleaner obviously didn't reach to under the bed, solitary bar of soap wafer thin. Didn't look forward to returning there for second night. BUT on the plus side this Travelodge is fairly new and very well situated just off M4 easy to get into central London.

“Good Value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Good location, just off the M4. As far as Travelodges go this is one of the better ones. Its very easy to get into central London, take the 237 bus from directly outside the Hotel to Gunnersbury station and then the tube. Parking is behind and underneath the hotel at a cost of £5 per day. There are a few free spaces in the road that is adjacent to the hotel. There is a Mcdonalds 200 yards away and a Morrisons about a mile further down. I always think it is worth getting the eat all you can cooked breakfast for £6.60 if you pre-book. Polite staff for a change was nice. You know what your going to get with Travelodge so try and get an early special offer room because they are not worth the lastminute prices. They do need to improve starting with beds, bedding, pillows, televisions, towels and toiletries.

“Hotel fine - shame about one member of staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Hotel really convenient for Kew Gardens – 15 minute walk, Kew Bridge Station – 10 minute walk then 25 minutes to Waterloo. M4 – 5 minute drive. 10 minutes from Richmond on bus route 65 (from right outside hotel).

Room fine. Parking generally fine. Not sure why £5 only buys 20 hours parking not 24 hours. Pay at 4pm and the ticket runs out at 12 noon the following day. Not very convenient – probably a way of making more money!

The unhelpful member of staff refused to believe that there was a problem with the TV. Also told me to rate the hotel 9 or 10 out of 10 when I got the Travelodge online survey – I didn’t – because of him. However, these are minor grumbles and I would stay there again in the future.
