“Just don't”

Booked this hotel through a booking website as we thought we would have a weekend in London so just wanted something cheap. It was awful. The room (room 3) was small and i wouldn't say it was very clean. There were wires everywhere and they were all plugged into an extension that was just left on the floor. The bed was so rickety that it made the most awful noise just when sitting on it. Bedding was basic and only one pillow each. First night was freezing and no hot water in the morning. Second night was extremely hot and we couldn't sleep but still in the morning no hot water. The telly worked occasionally but most of the time it said there was no signal. Tea and coffee facilities but no cups and the breakfast was a bit of a joke.

“Wow, can it be this bad”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

Booked for an overnight theatre visit. Room tiny, really tiny. Toilet jammed in a small space, shower no use for an adult. Toilet and seat were soiled. No additional pillows available and the overnight porter couldnt be bothered to tell us, just left us waiting after midnight in case he arrived. Very offhand attitude. Breakfast room tiny and cramped. Ran out of jam etc. Bed like rock and sheets didnt fit. Slept for no more than 3 hours and would have sat in a chair if there had been one. I could nt believe how bad it was. Wires for TV hanging off the wall in trunking that was loose. Stairs very steep and windy, couldnt see a lift. Certainly the worst hotel i have ever been in. Shocking.

“No way”

The good – it is in a good location. Several blocks from Paddington station which has access to underground, National rail services and the express train from Heathrow. There are a number of restaurants in the vicinity as well as quickie stores for basics. It is a short walk to Hyde Park. They have reliable Wi-Fi service.

This is not a hotel. It is a 3-story walk up - with individual rooms rented out.
- Front desk is a counter erected in a narrow foyer. No lobby; No bellman;
- You get to your room via a stairway barely large enough to accommodate a full size suitcase.
- The rooms themselves are basically small bedrooms. We have a quad room in which the beds occupied 80% of the floor space. There was no other furniture.
- There was radiator heat, which could not be adjusted. When it came on it was very warm and opening the window could cool the room.
- The bathroom was at its narrowest 30 inches across with a toilet, sink and shower.
- TV gets 4-5 channels from antennae service (no cable);
- Beds did not get made every day.
- Website says:
- Debit/Credit Card Accepted – doesn’t mention 2% surcharge for using card.
- Complimentary breakfast – is toast, jam and coffee. The web page shows a fresh fruit tray and pastries – never saw this.
- Safety Deposit Box at Reception (I doubt it) – our important envelope containing hundreds of dollars in tickets was kept in a file folder on desk
- The photos on the web page of a dining room are from a local restaurant – NOT this building. The other pics are local tourist spots or stores close by.
- The photo in the large frame on the website page “Rooms” is not from this hotel – look at the rooms gallery
This would be a fine choice for someone looking to save money and stay at a boarding room or hostel – it is NOT a hotel. The webpage is grossly misleading and the prices are outrageous for the amenities.

“The worst hotel I have ever stayed in”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

The only good thing about this hotel is location - it is only a few minutes walk from a zone 1 tube station and the top of Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park. As for the rest of the hotel experience - abysmal. The photos provided to/displayed on the website we booked through (laterooms.com) were a universe away from the reality. Reality = smallest hotel room in the world (head of tiny double bed up against one wall with the foot of the bed jammed against the opposite wall - my feet were literally touching the wall and I am not a giant!). Reality = paper thin walls/floors/ceiling with zero sound insulation. Reality = grime and falling apart (hairs on bedding & in bathroom, broken toilet seat, broken light fittings & heater, massive scary looking crack through plaster on the ceiling). I know london is expensive but this place was not worth it - you'd be better off staying in a YHA!

“Worst hotel I've ever seen”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

We walked past the hotel first as the entrance is so tiny we didn't notice it. The stairs are narrow and uneven and very steep the door to the room is very narrow, if we were larger people we wouldn't have for through! I knew it was going to be a bad room as my boyfriend opened the door and said "oh god, I'm so sorry"! It was tiny we had to scooch past the bed, the window was wide open and it had been raining, it was dingy and horribly decorated there were marks on the walls and wires sticking out. The bathroom was so tiny about the size of our wardrobe at home, when my boyfriend was in there he bent down to pick a towel up and the door flew open as it was so small! It said toiletries supplied so we didn't take shower gel or shampoo, there was one small sachet of shower gel each and that's it-there was a used bar of soap that we didn't touch. The taps on the shower are the wrong way round, the tap marked hot lets out cold water and vice versa. Breakfast was awful dirty cups and plates I didnt have anything. We asked to leave our case there for the day after we checked out while we shopped and they charged us £5!! It doesn't sound a lot but when the rest was so awful, and other places I've stayed they don't charge for that. It was the worst place I've ever been or seen and was furious with my boyfriend at the time for booking it!!
