From reading the reviews before I arrived I wasn't particularly looking forward to this hotel. However on arrival it didn't seem anywhere near as bad as some of the reviews. The receptionist was helpful and on asking, she offered me the choice of 2 different rooms. The first was in the basement level (although with adequate light well) of the main building. This was prefectly acceptable but I couldn't really see any of the features shown on the website photos. The other room (208) which I actually stayed in was on the other side of the street. The entrance foyer was very contemporary and quite a nice space. The room itself was certainly different in quite a good way. They are designed as quite minimalist spaces so will inevitably vary from your standard hotel room. Yes - there are no skirting boards and yes the bath is in a separate room right next to the bed - but these are design features and are actualyl quite refreshing. The cleanliness of the room I would describe as 'adequate' but given that these rooms were fitted out 3 years ago and that they have many white and light colours and fabrics they are showing some signs of wear (ie. chips/scratches/stains). Really it just needs a lick of paint, but if you half shut your eyes it looks lovely!
