“Avoid it if you can”

The first shock is when you get there and you are asked to pay at once for the entire stay and they charge you with 3/% if you pay by credit card and of course there is no such condition in their web page. The room tiny you could here everything from the next room. Very poor breakfast served in the basement! Sufocating. Very unpleasant experience. The only good thing is the location but there are plenty of hotels in the area. Paying 105 pounds per night for that place is a rip off.

“Good value and comfortable”

just coming back from a second stay at piccolino hotel with a mate and have to say that both occasions were very comfortable indeed. On my first stay i was given room 8, a twin room with high ceilings and a large window and on my second stay was given room 5, again a twin with a lower ceiling and an average sized window but with a separate WC and shower en-suit. Both rooms were very clean and nicely done and had large LCD TVs. I personally preferred room 5 because of the separate shower and loo, worked well for us as when one occupied the shower the loo was available for the other occupant to use, plus the room was very quiet too. Reception was manned 24 hours so no problems with late nights out and the free wireless internet worked good. complimentary continental breakfast was included within the room rate but always missed it due to over sleeping.
The icing on the cake was the staff. All were very courteous and friendly especially the lads at the reception who helped us with cab bookings and kept our luggage on departure until late evening. Always ready to help and service minded, an asset for the establishment.
Thanks guys. Will be seeing you again.

“Terrible!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

This hotel is a joke...stay away. We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and not once did the housekeeping service change our sheets or clean the room. The towels had gaping holes in them and were stained. Talking of stains, the 'white' bedsheets were pretty colourful with stains too.
We had a free breakfast with our booking. I guess free is the only way they could make you have it!! There was no choice, the toasts offered to us were made with stale and yeast infected bread. Disgusting!
Considering what we paid i.e. 100 euros/night, I kind of feel mugged. Would advice people to stay away from this lot!

“A great place”

Me and my spouse booked Piccolino Hotel after being recommended from a friend. Our expectations were not too high as we had read some mixed reviews, however, most were positive. With a slight apprehension I called up the place and booked for 3 nights.
checked in the next day in the evening and was met with a very warm welcome and we were offered a choice of hot or cold drinks while I filled in the form. We were led to our room which was located on the second floor and the the the receptionist was very kind and helped carry our luggage to the room.
The room was a decent size according to London standards. It was nicely decorated, well laid out, clean, comfortable and crisp bed linen. I think the room was recently refurbished. We Loved the the original wood stained floors, gave the room a cosy homely feel. Equipped with a nice sized flat screen, plenty of lighting, ample storage and full length mirrors. What was most appreciated was the ultra sleek tea coffee station which was regularly replenished.
The bathroom was not massive but spotless, functional and adequate with soap, shower gel and shampoo bottles.
Breakfast was as promised, continental, with a variety of cereals, croissants, cold meat, cheese slices, fruit yoghurt, beans and hard boiled eggs with juices, tea and coffee It was served buffet style, serve your self and eat your fill type. Hot toasts were bought to your table by cheerful ladies serving breakfast. However if you prefer full English then there are many small eateries a stones throw away, serving a good fry up for under £4.
The only cons are that there is no elevator, but staff are happy to help with moving luggage. Having floor boards means that you may hear some noise from people staying in the rooms above, but it was generally quieter in the night.
Overall a very comfortable stay. Would thoroughly recommend the place especially for the extremely helpful and friendly staff who dealt with all our queries efficiently. Thank you.
Will and Anne

Room Tip: Request a lower floor if too many stairs is a challenge. Staff always ready to help with any queries...

“Definately not worth the effort of booking”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We booked the hotel for new year with friends, we got there, there was room for our friends but not us, even though we had booked in february. We were split and 2 of us got sent to their 'sister' hotel, 5 minutes walk away!!! so a break with our friends was not exactly that! It was the hyde park something hotel that we got sent to, the rooms were basic and definately shabby and in need of fixing. The hotel person just kept telling us when we checked in what a great deal we had had (£75 for the night) and it should have been £200 and we were so lucky, why sell it for that price when they clearly were not happy with us staying there for that. In all honesty it was not worth more than we paid for it. You have to hand your keys in before you go out, and take the chance somebody will be at the 24 hour reception to let you in when you get back - 10 minutes waiting outside at 3am (following the new year fireworks) is not exactly great - its meant to be a 24 hour reception! we were getting ready for bed and the lights blew so we had no lights but there was a lovely alarm right outside our door that beeped all night long (apparently somebody had been smoking in their room - not sure why they could not stop it beeping though) and people ring the door bell at all hours as you are not trusted to take your keys out with you! it was a good location and the fireworks at the london eye were amazing but the hotel let it down - best of all - the hotel sign said they had vacancies but they still split us up from our friends and their children.
