“Great service and good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I stayed one night at st Ermin's on a business/pleasure trip and needed a nice hotel close to Victoria Station. The hotel staff were really helpful and made the stay a good one. All looked brand new and the room was nice, practical and quiet! I slept really well. The lobby is fantastic and the service there was great too. I really nice and quiet place in the heart of London. Great value for money too!

“A great January weekend at St Ermin's”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I booked St Ermin's for a weekend with friends after staying there on business in Dec'11. The staff were just as good the second time around, as was the service and the rooms.

The reception staff were friendly and business like on check-in, answering any questions and just as importantly on check-out. The guys on the door were friendly and efficient during our comings and goings in cabs and on foot. Waiting and bar staff too were pleasant and easy to engage when needed.

The hotel location was just right for us, we are more sightseers than shoppers but there were some shops on hand on the main street if needed just a few minutes away. The tube which is just around the corner for those avid shoppers to get to London's shopping districts was also very handy.

The lifts are a little shaky and compact but then the age of the hotel prevents this being changed. The only concern was the price of the breakfast - for four a cooked breakfast with VAT was in excess of £100 and though this is London it did make my eyes water, when settling the bill.

That is my only gripe and that is why I have not rated this hotel as excellent, if you don't 'do', breakfast, you'll need to go a very long way to find a London hotel as good as this. Thanks for a fabulous stay, Douglas McHugh GM, Tom Walsh and all the staff.

“Expensive and tiny rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We usually stay in the Trafalgar square area for shopping in Regents Street and Oxford street, but we wanted a change of venue and stayed at the St. Ermins Hotel. We found it a little bit to far from the shopping areas althought there is the underground right behind the hotel. It is close to St.James Park and Buckingham Palace.
The room was tiny, very tiny. The wardrobe didnt have space for two people. They offered us an upgrade for £30 a day and we got a slightly larger room, maybe an extra 1 square metre and a two door wardrobe.
The room was very clean. The wooden windows didnt close properly and we had to put pillows on the bottom part to keep the draft out !.
Continental breakfast was included in the price, which was limited.
I am rating this hotel a 4 due to the excellent lobby area, excellent staff service and good food in the restaurant.

DearSir,
I am sorry to hear that the room you were allocated did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. We do have a number of different room types and sizes and if you were to visit again may I suggest you try one of our large executive rooms, or perhaps one of our luxury suites which have separate lounge and dining areas?
Thank you for giving St.Ermin’s top marks for service and I am delighted to read that you were happy with the quality of our cuisine in our new restaurant The Caxton Grill.
We welcome all feedback as it will help us to serve you better in the future and we hope that you will return,

“Disappointed in the attitude of the front desk.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Stayed at St Ermins for two nights. When we arrived the reservation was wrong, we needed two beds instead of one queen. They said I could make the change but there would be a 30 pound per day charge. A bit frustrated but I agreed to the change, they then told me there would be an Internet fee for each device, and we had three (two iPods and an iPad). It would have been something like 48 pounds for the two days, ridiculous. I was not happy. we then went to our room and our view was of a cement wall. When I went to the front desk to explain my disappointment, they really didnt seem to care. That's way it is. I then said I would write a lousy review, which I've never done before, and the manager came out and offered to pay for two units to have internet service. It was of some consolation but not much.
The other service personell seemed very friend,y and helpful.

Room Tip: Great fish and chips at the pub that the bell hop recommended.

My front office team are renowned for their friendliness and hospitality and I am so sorry that this was not the case on your encounter at reception. We booked St Ermins based on trip advisor's excellent reviews and we were not disappointed. Really impressed! It was our son's 21st birthday and first visit to London and we wanted and got something special.Beautiful hotel inside and out, very friendly and helpful staff. We had a large family room with king size and queen size beds and day couch, also two ensuites! Room was really lovely. We had a lovely breakfast in the gorgeous dining room. Hotel was in a really good and central area for sightseeing, we were less than 10 mins walk to either buckingham palace or downing street, big ben etc. We walked from Liverpool Street station to hotel visiting Tower of London, Tower bridge, London Bridge, St Paul's Cathedral, trafalgar Square and Buckingham palace on the way to it. In the evening we walked to Covent Garden and back. I would and have recommended the hotel to friends and family, my sister and her husband plan to stay there in November. Would definitely return to St Ermins, exactly like the photos. Visit was on January 28th 2012

Room Tip: our room faced onto the beautiful Courtyard and was very quiet, at night the trees were all lit, it...
