“Room in a basement”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Our room was in the hotels basement without any natural daylight. The only window was with a view to the storage room. The room was very cold and the painting job wasn't finished in all walls. After two nights an electrical problem forced us to change the hotel because there were not other rooms left in this hotel. While booking the hotel I had requested a room in upper floor.

“Ok but expected more”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Although we cannot complain about any one item I feel after looking at the photos of the hotel and the reviews on this site that reality was somewhat poorer than the expectations.

The bathroom was nice but basic, no cup or glass though. The bed was nothing special and the headboard felt like it was about to fall off at any moment. Room looked a little tired but was clean and comfortable.

Very strange checking in then being told we were staying in a building over the road which is the other half of the hotel but it worked!

Stay had no complaints but for the money I'll head elsewhere in the future.

“Wonderful”

For a treat we had two nights here and were so impressed by the level of service from bellboys to front of house to housekeeping. Our room was huge and divine. It was charming and immaculate. The food, Roast beef and yorkshire pudding was the best we'd eaten and High Tea an experience in itself. Do not hesitate, this the a truely wonderful experience. I would recommend it to every one, not one bad word to say. Marvelous :)

Room Tip: I can't imagine there being a bad one.

I write this review at 4am as I have been awake all night! AVOID room 103.. The road noise is unbearable - its like lying in the central reservation of the M4!! When the rooms above use their bathrooms it sounds like a waterfall in your room. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!
