“Nice hotel, free parking and free breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Visited London to enjoy our Merlin Annual Pass, visiting Madam Tussauds, London Eye, Sea life and London Dungeons. Good standard hotel, better than the very budget ones like Travelodge. Free breakfast which was good standard but on the Sat morning people were queuing up waiting, for the scrambled egg. No one was available in or around the kitchen/dining area to answer questions and even knocking the kitchen door didn't help. After 10 mins or so when a staff girl did come out, her attitude was more of 'not another problem', instead of a helpful one. Her expressions said it all. Seemed to be short staffed.
Walthamstow central station is about 2 miles and cost £4 one way on the cab. Bus service (i think W11) drops straight in front of Sainsbury which is right next to the hotel. Couldn't buy travel card in the morning as no newsagent nearby, otherwise would have even saved the £4 on the cab journey.
Apart from the breakfast issue above, had a good stay. Family room accomodating all 4 of us. Nice size of sofa bed for our 11y / 8yr old children.

Dear mrazanaqvee,

Thank you for your review.

It is good to see that you have your enjoyed your stay here with your family and I am sure that you enjoyed the attractions equally.

I am sorry to hear that my team members were not more present, and I will certainly review the staffing levels during busy periods.

We always strive to deliver an excellent breakfast experience by cooking the items fresh and at time, there may be a slight delay, whilst we are replenishing.

Our breakfast area and in fact the entire Great Room lounge will benefit from a significant upgrade soon and we hope that it will make the experience for our guests even better.

Hopefully we will be able to welcome you and your family back here again, when you want to explore London again.

“pleasurable stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

I booked 1 night's stay for a friend through hotels.com and paid 42 pounds upfront for a double bed with a seating sofa. Check in took no more than 1 minute, I was offered complimentary internet in room as they run a trial, although we did not have chance to use the computer. Decent decor, neat and good locking system, two set of towels and soap, body wash in room. Very comfortable bed, choice of soft and hard pillows. Our window was sealed with face tissues or toilet paper! Although we felt the draft come in and the traffic noise. In the morning, breakfast staff seemed a bit lost or slow, although trays were collected promptly. Very nice bread rolls and scrambled eggs, choice of fruits, yoghurts, beverages and juices. Decent dining area, full of daylight. On checking out I threw the room key onto unattended reception desk. No thank you or goodbye therefore I rate this property average. Possibly 42 pounds include only shower, bed, tv and breakfast. It is a good place to stay, I wish front desk staff were present at all times and more enthusiastic when interacting with paying guests.

Room Tip: Look for deals on hotels.com and when choosing a double bed why not check if there is a sofa seater...

Dear MatUKLondon,

Thank you for your recent review.

It is great to hear that you have enjoyed your stay here.

I apologise that there was a gap in the bedroom window, and this is being addressed and the window will be replaced.
This will then resolve the issue of noise and the slight draft.

On busier days, the front desk staff may help with breakfast, but at no point should leave the reception desk unattended.
As we are here when you arrive and we welcome you, we should also be there when you leave and wish you a good onward journey.

I hope that this has not deterred you from staying with us in the future and I look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

“Absolutely fine for an overnight stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We stayed here on 7 Jan 2012 to see Lion King in London returing to Sheffield on 8 Jan 2012. Two rooms, 3 people £29 each room including parking, breakfast and free Independent Newspaper). Rooms were very clean, large TV, comfy bed, no noise - typical overnight room - bathrooms clean. Slight problem with one of the room keys but sorted. Would definitely stay again for weekend in London. Although not close to tube, we drove to Walthamstowe Central 10 mins - parked in mall car park (£5) and got off peak day tube zone 1-4 for £7.50 each - approx 30 mins into London from there by tube - no hassle.

“As you expect”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

I stayed at this hotel with work in September & October.

The first stay got cancelled at around 10pm due to the job being cancelled the next day so I didn’t really experience the room that much. However while I was in there, there were a group of young guys who had decided to park their car at the back of the hotel – which was the bottom of the Sainsbury’s car park, and proceed to blast their music. I was going to complain to the hotel, but they left just before 10pm. But beware of this if you stay on the weekend. The second stay was a lot quieter.

The room is your standard Holiday Inn room – spacious, choice of pillows etc and were clean.

The one thing I would say about all Holiday Inn rooms are that they are too dark. With all of the lights on it feels very dark still, like you have missed a switch to turn all of the lights on.

Breakfast was okay, but tiny tiny serving area which got clogged up very easily and it wasn’t even busy at the time, so I imagine this is a nightmare if it is peak time.

Room Tip: Try to avoid staying next to the sainsbury's car park at weekends - seems to be the place to go...

“Fine for a short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

We stay here once a year to visit family. Clean & basic but better than a travelodge. Have never had a problem with noise here whatever room we have been given. This time we over looked Sainsbury's car park at the rear and had no noise problem at all. Lots of parking. It's fine for a one or two night stay but too basic for a long stay.

Room Tip: Ask to be at the back at the front you could be over looking the recycling bins
