“Great Value, Great Location, Really Impressed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Our stay was for one night, as we were attending a gig at The Alexander Palace. Checked in quickly, friendly staff greeted us. We were given a room on 2nd floor. Great size accommodation, Huge (and I mean huge) comfy bed, flat screen tv (not great picture but watchable). Decor probably in need of update, but we found everthing to be clean and comfortable. En-suite also clean, towlels on the small side but they always are! The only thing I could mention is the shower curtain, I personally hate the things and this one was looking a little grubby at the bottom. But the shower was decent power and nice and hot. Speaking of heat, I would definatly suggest turning off the heater in the room at night. After a very chilly walk across town (-10C) we were in need of some heat and decided to leave the heater on when we went to bed. We woke about an hour later in sweltering heat and had to sleep with the window open for the rest of the night just to cool us down again. Our room was situated at the back of the hotel overlooking the car-park, so we didn't have any road noise. Not sure what a room at the front would be like as it is quite a busy road. Reception staff helpful and ordered us a taxi. (To the Alexander Palace about 3 miles away, charged £10). Breakfast in the morning was served between 8 and 10am on a Saturday, we arrived at 9.30am and the dining room was very busy. Quite a wait on cooked breakfast, but cereals, toast, fruit, juices and coffee were replenished quickly throughout the sitting. Overall, we found this to be a great value pit-stop hotel. Handy being so close (30sec walk!) to the leisure park too where you have a wide choice of restaurants from well known chains. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Request a room to the rear of the hotel to avoid road noise, and turn off your heater at night!

So pleased you enjoyed your stay and we are in the process of changing all the shower curtains, so sorry we hadnt quite got to yours.

We are in a great location as you point out with a cinema, bowling alley, swimming pool on our leisure park and all our guests get 50% off the Day pass Rate at the adjoining David Lloyd Leisure club. We also now have our own on site Mediterranean Restaurant "Flames" so even more dining choice.

I have asked Ian to check the TV picture and do hope we get the chance to welcome you back.

Kindest regards

David

“Reasonable value, average hotel.”

My stay was for two nights. The overall service was ok and staff were generally friendly. The room was fairly clean though there were stains on the chair and cushion.

The hotel building was fairly typical of a chain type hotel i.e. a fairly ugly facade and blandly decorated rooms but it was generally of a perfectly acceptable standard throughout.

The breakfasts were reasonable with a good selection and ample dining area.

The hotel is also in a good location with chain restaurants, vue cinema and bowling alley on the same site. The hotel has it's own restaurant though I did not gave a meal there.

Thanks for your review and glad you enjoy your stay.

We are fortunate in being well located just of thr North Circular with ample car parking, our own restaurant, and then a choice of other restaurants, a leisure club, cinema, bowling alley and swimming pool all within easy walking distance.

Our bedrooms are large and airy and we have free wifi throughout the property

Apologies that HK did not pick up the points you raise.

Look forward to welcoming you back

Kind regards

David

“Good location if going to Alexandra Palace”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Stayed here 23 December when we were going to see the darts at Alexandra Palace....location was good for access to the venue but beware taxi's try rip you off severly; tried to charge £19 for a 3 mile £8 trip!

Hotel was ok, rooms were freezing though as heating was through this huge generator looking thing so couldn't have it on when in bed as it was so noisy!

Hotel was clean, breakfast wasn't very good served until 10am so we went down at 9.40 as it was buffet so thought they'd be plenty but hardly anything left

Booked hotel 6 months in advance and day before we stayed checked on price and it had reduced by £30 so cancelled and rebooked!

Would stay again if going to the darts but that would be the only reason!

“Recommended hotel with great restaurant attached”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

Stayed here twice now.
Good points:
- good size rooms with lots of storage space
- reasonable price
- clean
- good tv and lots of channels
- free wifi
- delicious and friendly Mediterranean restaurant; eaten there three times. Love it.
- on a leisure park with cinema, bowling and with other restaurants including tasty and decorative Mexican Chimichanga, Nandos and Cafe Rouge (and McDonalds)
- adjoining rooms with doors in between good for families; you can lock them if you need a break from the kids!
Less good points:
- taps turning off the wrong way and with strong jet so you get drenched; it's only funny once!
- broken toilet seat that couldn't be fixed due to xmas hols; they offered to move us but otherwise we were happy with the room
- only one double socket. Tip: bring an adaptor with you
- room smelled of smoke even though it's no smoking
- fairly dire breakfast. How can a tomato be made so tasteless. Awful bacon and sausage. Nasty sliced bread and a toaster that either singes or only warms, doesn't toast. Only black tea or coffee, not choice of teas (eg green or earl grey). Blaring TV isn't what we all want first thing but there are two rooms so you can get away from it.
Overall I would definitely recommend it and we'll stay again.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay and great feedback about Flames Med Restaurant, which we will pass on to Tony the owner. We have also passed on your breakfast comments as he provides this and I hope you will accept our apologies. Look forward to welcoming you back.

Kind regards

“Comfortable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

The room was bigger than any room we stayed in while in Europe but that is because to get into London city you need to catch a bus and train, which was pretty easy as buses come every 8-12 mins 7am to midnight and the trains are more frequent. There is a cinema and MacDonald, Pizza hut right near as well. We stayed there and drove to the country to go sight seeing and it was good for that as right near M25 ring road. The staff were helpful and we were able to keep our rental car there free of charge. The only bad note was no fridge or mini bar.
