“Bed bugs, stale food, mold.....”

Our experience, at the Lord Jim in Earl's Court, was the worst hotel stay we have ever had. The morning we awoke to bed bugs! The hotel's reaction was "that's what you get when you stay in a hotel- too bad for you". Without other options, we tried another room. No bed bugs in second room. But there was mold all over the bathrooms in both rooms. Breakfast food was stale. Overall, we will never forget our vexing and disgusting stay at the Lord Jim.

“Good location, average cheap place”

If you want to spend not more than two or three days in London, on a budget, Hotel Lord Jim is what you need. It's located at 2 minutes walking from Earl's Court underground station, very convenient for London City sightseeing. Staff is very friendly!

The room was small, but actually fitting a double and a single bed. The bathroom was a medium size, small sink but normal shower. The room also had a hair dryer, which surprised me. Carpet all over the hotel make it smell as a usual British place. Was a good surprise to find a lift, as our room was at the third floor (and my luggage was big!). Overall clean, but did not look too much around in details ;)

Continental breakfast is included: coffee, tea, juices, bread, croissants, toasted bread, cheese, butter, marmalade and cereals were available at a buffet.

We payed 46 pounds each per night during a weekend.

Recommended for short staying.

Room Tip: We had a corner room which was quite. When people were in the corridor it actually sounded loud.

“One of worse hotels I have ever stayed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

We booked by calling the hotel and explaining we need a double room and a triple room with wheel chair access. On arrival we booked in to our "double room" it was more like a single room with a double bed in it... was so small you had to climb in the bed from one side and no room to even put case down to unpack.. awful just awful. After this we checked out the second "disabled room" they told us to get into the lift go to the 3rd floor and then go up the stairs to the fourth floor as the lift only goes to the third. I explained that would be an issue as we had already told them we booked a room with an 84 year old grandparent who was in a wheel chair. After much complaining on their part they placed us in the room on the ground floor by reception, was not great but did the job. We moved our room that night also to a little larger (not better) room, this was by the lift and all you could hear was the lift motor and banging of the door. The lift is not suitable for a wheel chair either, it was like a comedy pushing her into the lift and pressing the button quickly before the door shut then running down to meet her on the ground floor just as some one else pressed for the lift and she was going back up... the lift was SO small.
Breakfast was far from interesting, terrible service they spilled milk all over the floor while clearing up (looks like it happens a lot) and we were served bread rolls and cornflakes.
The hotel was not clean, I had other peoples hair on my towels and in the bed which made me feel sick and bathroom was dirty, the curtains and nets had holes in.
The hotel needs a total refurb.... we will never return everything about this place is shocking.

Room Tip: Book the largest available and you may end up with the best they have to offer

“Great for Single traveller and for One Night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

I stayed at the Lord Jim last night as I had to come to London at the last minute for an interview. I paid £52 for one night for an en-suite room and was given a double - it was adequate for one but I hate to think what it would be like for two. The service was extremely friendly the carpets in the room had seen better days but the bathroom was brand new.

The continental breakfast was excellent and plenty full - all in all an excellent effort, and I am a bit of a hotel snob but will certainly come back at this price.

Room Tip: I had room 19 it was ok

“Cheap and very basic, ok for a night or two..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

Me and my fiance stayed at the Lord Jim for one night, Nov 2011. The room was what you would expect, small and just basic, telly, kettle and shower. Clean, but pretty worn around the edges. We had a small balcony overlooking the street, which was a bonus as room was quite small (double). Bit noisy on street at night, but what you would expect being so close to Earl's Court Road. The tube was 2 minutes round the corner, which was great for tourists. Breakfast was continental. Not too much to write about but sufficient. Staff were friendly enough. Would recommend for a night or two but no longer.

Room Tip: Rooms to the back would be quieter, but prob no balcony.
