Stayed here just before Christmas for three nights. It's in a great location - good for the underground as it's just in zone 1. The room itself was fine, as expected from a Premier Inn. We ate at the restaurant which was pretty good. The television never worked for our whole stay, when we complained to the reception about this on our first night, they asked which floor we were on and when we said floor one, their answer was 'oh yeah, there's a problem with all the televisions on the first floor'... and that was her solution. We assumed this was a temporary problem and it'd be fixed within the day, but it remained broken for the rest of our trip. It's a huge hotel, it has heaps of floors and i'd have imagined, many empty rooms, which they could've swapped us to, but never even suggested it.
On the last two nights, we were woken at about 4am by banging about in the corridor. We thought this was noisy guests and just went back to sleep, as clubbers could be coming home at that time (which you get in hotels, and can't really complain about, we've all been one of them i'm sure!). So we shrugged it off and got back to sleep. We were woken at about 7.30am by heaps of banging about again. It was like someone kept banging a door shut. This continued until we got up about 10ish. The next night this was worse, the shower also kept dripping during the night (although it was completely off!). The banging of the door outside our room continued through the night and into the morning on and off. It wasn't continuous, but it woke us up every time it banged as it was like a door being properly slammed, so loud it sounded like someone was slamming our door! From early morning this was joint with the maids speaking to each other down the corridors - very loudly.
We looked outside our door the next morning to see what it could've been and there was a door right next to us that looked like a store cupboard, i'd imagine this is where they store items for room service or anything anyone might need during the night - i'm not sure exactly what it was but it was VERY annoying.
We complained when we checked out about this and after reading their motto about 'a good nights sleep or your money back' (or whatever it is)... the receptionist just apologised and said there's a night guard that patrols the hotel and if guests are being noisy during the night, to inform him and turned it around to say it was guests making the noise when we were 99.9% sure it was the hotel staff making all the noise. They made out like it was OUR fault for not getting out our bed at 5am and going downstairs to inform the night guard that the hotel staff were making noise. So much for a good night sleep or your money back, getting up to inform the night guard that it was noisy is NOT a good night sleep!
Room Tip: Avoid ones next to cupboards and on the first floor!
