When you have a request prior to your booking, "it is just a request" for the front desk staff. When I booked the room and explicitly stated I needed two single beds given that I was tarvellinmg with a colleague. For front desk it did not mean a thing because "it was just a request" with their own words. They did not inform me on that though even though they had my e-mail pnone number etc.
When we said we can settle with a folding cot they said they did not have any. Eventually after a lot of grumble from gthe ladies we received our two single bed room
The front desk was totally unprofessional and not welcoming.
The rooms are good and well maintained. Perfect location for short time travellers to London. 10 min walk to oxford st and hyde park. 5 in walk away from paddington where you can take a direct train to Heathrow.
Will I recommend the hotel? Yes.
But as I said be careful with what you want!!!

We have stayed here over the last 6- 7 years, sometimes two, three times a year and have never found anything to complain about. All the staff are pleasant, courteous and ready to help. Rooms are of decent proportions for London. Cooked English or continental breakfast is very well done and has a variety of foods, cereals and juices. Darlington's location next to Paddington station, Hyde park and many pubs and restaurants is unbeatable. Given all this Darlington is a reasonably priced hotel in central London.

Got really good value in low season, winter, half price for a suite. Well designed and good furnishings. Sitting room of suite was on noisy Sussex Gardens but separate bedroom at back of hotel so really quiet - excellent. Welcoming, efficient staff at reception and also at breakfast which is in basement hut has clever glass roof in part of room so not dark and claustrophobic as in so many other hotels in the area. Really good value for money, one of the few in the area.

We have lived in this house twice, but at another hotel. We booked a room for 3 nights and then added 2 more night via separate booking. It was great, no problems. The location is hard to beat - we were within walking distance of Paddington station , is convenient for Heathrow Express. Hotel is situated near Hyde park, on the green, quiet street and near to buses and tube stations. Bathroom was always nice and warm, hot water never failed. Room service was excellent . Friendly staff, couldn't have been better. Breakfast was good for London, it was possible to order a full English breakfast, but we did not order, we had enough fresh pastries and coffee. Free Wi fi. It was possible to leave our luggage after check out. I highly recommend.
