“Good value and peaceful and excellently located”

I thought this guest house was good value. Although the room was tiny it has been newly decorated and had an en-suite bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the room had been well designed. I had a top floor room which was quite a hike but it was very quiet and cosy. shower was spotless and although water pressure was low in the sink it was fine in the shower. Breakfast was included in the price and was perfectly acceptable with hot and cold dishes including choice of fresh fruit. Staff were very friendly and helpful offering advice on travel options and checking that my room was OK. This is a simple but clean hotel excellently placed for Oxford Street and on a direct busline to Knightsbridge.

“Cheapish but not value”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

Needed to stay near to Park lane for a dinner and was looking for somewhere reasonably priced. This was less than 800 yards from the Grovesnor Park Lane and closer to Oxford street. The room I had was very small and echo other reviews that the door was very narrow. the heating was very limited so the room was cooler than I would have liked. The room was clean and the location good but at £85 I don't rate it as value. For a few pounds more you can do much better

Room Tip: Quieter at the back

“Absolutely appalling”

I always try to find something positive to say in these reviews. Sadly I am unable to supply that kind of feedback for the Wigmore Court. There is no mention in the ads that breakfast is only between 8.00 to 9.30a.m. The ad did not mention that there is no lift and you have to climb with luggage up 6 flights of stairs. I was put in a tiny room (no. 34) which was basically a storage cupboard. This room breached health and safety in so many ways! The door into the room was only about 2' 6" if that and was certainly not a fire door. I am quite a petite person but had problems in getting into the bedroom, it was that small and clostrophic. I asked them to change the room and was put on the ground floor where they could have put me in the first place! Despite this room being bigger than the first it was still very small and extremely cold during the night to the point I had to put some more clothes on. The valance was dirty and had what looked like to be thick old blood running down it which was also on the skirting board. The water only got to luke warm and was not hot enough to enjoy a shower. Running the water for so long hoping it will get hot is a terrible waste of natural resources. There was a cold draft coming from the bathroom window attributed to me being cold during the night. On a positive note, the cooked breakfast was at least hot and kitchen staff were very efficient. Would I go there again ......... definitely not.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet double room on the ground floor to the rear of the hotel as the front is on a very b...

“Basment room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

I visited the hotel in July this year. I had a twin room in the basment, which I wasn;t pre informed. The room was horrible. Staff refused to change it. The price was the same as for the "normal" room. The room I got, had a window facing the wall, was just next to the brekfeast room and next to the staff room. Which means no sleep. As from 6 o'clock in the morning the staff was really loud preparing the food, and in the evenings staff was smoking in the tiny patio outside the window.. well very bad experience !

“Wet and cold in the hearth of London”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

On the second day of stay in room # 32 it started raining and just about 10 minutes later the water poured down the wall and dripped from the ceiling straight on a electrical socket and a wall lamp. And this was in the 3rd floor, not fourth (!). The ceiling showd clear signs of being wet before, so it was not a new problem. After collecting some of the water (ca 3 liters) in the vegetable box from the fridge I calculated that at least 10 litres was in the wallpaper and the carpet. It was impossible to sleep with the dripping water. The next day another room was offered. This one, number # 33, stayed dry in spite of rain, hurrah. But can you imagine, the hotel put in new customers in the wet room, #32! The woman in the reception said that a handyman had fixed the problem, but I doubt it!

Room Tip: Don't accept room 32, 33 is nice and O.K.
