This small hotel located near Victoria station is of an excellent standard. We did have a superior room but everything was spotless, plenty of toiletries, very comfy bed. A big plus was the homecooked breakfast ......this was far superior to the type of breakfasts in chain hotels where everything is maturing under heat lamps!!! Well done to the owners for including this......
we looked forward to it every morning.
We found nothing to complain about...excellent!...

Room Tip: I think the superior rooms are worth paying the bit extra for

“The Windermere Hotel is a nice quiet hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

Located in a nice area of London. It's a very short walk from Victoria Station also close to the Bus tours station that we took. They have nice restaurants in the area also. Breakfast was included. The restaurant has a small variety of breakfast foods including order eggs off of the menu. Room are small with a small bathroom/shower but, we didn't spend much time in our room so we were pleased with our room. We would return to this hotel on our next trip. My only complaint is that I personally prefer a soft mattress...

Room Tip: our room overlook the street in front.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay with us at The Windermere.

We are very proud of our location. It is worth mentioning that we are located in a quiet residential area which enables you to have a peaceful night's rest. Yet, we are so centrally located, that many of our guests enjoy walking to the the famous landmarks that are situated around us. The list is very long and includes; Buckingham Palace, Parliament Square, the London Eye, Tate Britain, Trafalgar Square, the National Gallery, the Saatchi Gallery, Harrods, Hyde Park and St. James' Park. You also mention Victoria and the bus tours. We are indeed only a 5-10 minutes walk to Victoria from where you can take the Underground, train or buses to various parts of the city and country. Most of the tours also begin in or around Victoria Station, so you are not far from everything London has to offer! Tickets are always available from our knowledgable Front Office team.

Our breakfast is very popular with our guests, and since your stay with us in November we have improved it even further with new additions to our menu. Our Pimlico Room Restaurant & Bar is also open for dinner, and offers a delicious menu cooked with the freshest ingredients. I do hope that you will have the opportunity to sample our restaurant on your next visit.

It is a shame that you found your room to be on the smaller side. Unfortunately, London hotels of our stature cannot offer the spacious rooms one may commonly find in the USA for example. London buildings tend to be older (our property was built in 1857) and more delicate, but we feel this is part of The Windermere's charm. We do of course offer a variety of different room types and all of our 19 guest rooms are en suite with either a shower room or a bathroom. The Deluxe category is our most spacious room type. I certainly hope that you found the room to be very comfortable nonetheless. Each of our rooms are individually designed and well thought out by the owners (Nick, Sylvia & Emily Hambi), with every room being equipped with modern comforts (plasma TV, laptop-sized safe, tea/coffee making facilities, luxury bathroom amenities etc).

I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us, and we all look forward to welcoming you back to "your home away from home".

Kind regards,
Emily Hambi
Happy Holidays from us all at The Windermere!

“Outstanding value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

I stayed only one night but was very happy with the sservice and the room. Reception was polite and friendly. There was some redecoration going on, but it did not affect the running of the property. The room was clean, nicely furnished and with ensuite bathroom with shower. Toiletries provided of good quality. All in all a very good experience. Staff answered my questions quickly and were able to help with anything I needed. Had an evening meal but have to say it was not amazing. Breakfast was excellent.

Really good value for money when compared to most other hotels in London and I was very impressed.

Stayed for the night yesterday and arrived in town without cufflinks. No matter - the owner "stepped up" and lent me his for the evening! Who says UK hotels have no real service ethic - above and beyond the call of duty. Lovely quiet room and great location. Taxis just outside whenever needed. Will make this a regular when in London.. Thank you.

“Theatre trip Rob Brydon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

Searched the web for hotels in London having never stayed before. Recent reviews rated The Windermere worth visiting. We had a deluxe double room which was excellent, beautifully decorated, clean, lovely bathroom. Friendly, helpful staff, could not have wished for anything more. Location great only few minutes walk from Victoria station. A wonderful find and will be returning should another visit to London arise.

Room Tip: Deluxe double spacious ground floor room. Little road noise but would not have changed the room for...
