Our accommodation fell through at the last minute for a family wedding in London, and with the Olympics just a week away, 2 children to accommodate and on a budget, I was fearful of where we might end up!
Well I needn't have worried! Check-in was swift, the family room was much larger than I had expected, with 2 single beds for the children, the interior was very modern and helpfully laid out and you are situated right by the London Eye on the bank of the Thames. If you are travelling with young children, you may wish to know that between the hotel and the Eye is a little play park in Jubillee Gardens - a lovely freebie! There were always lots of staff available for any questions you might have and a luggage room available before/after check-in.
We booked breakfast both mornings and it was excellent value for money. U16's eat free and there was a full English breakfast, cereals, fresh fruit, pastries, toast etc. to choose from in pleasant surroundings.
Why not a 5 star then?
It was a little bit of a hike to the tube with our luggage and if you order a taxi from the hotel they use private hire vehicles which charge more than walking 2 minutes down the road and hailing a taxi. We also found the door into the bathroom very annoying because it was really heavy (you couldn't prop it open!) and it clunked shut rather loudly each time it was used.
