“Great hotel in a fantastic location”

I stayed here for one night on business. I loved the location, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and the room I had was great. The bathroom was very well appointed and the toiletries luxurious. I loved the bar - it's classy and chic. Breakfast was a triumph and I can highly recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs! This is unlike any other Hilton I have stayed in and I will be back!

“excellent location”

Stayed here just for one night for a theatre break with grandson, smiling and helpful staff which is always a plus, location couldn't be better - theatres just down the road, Leicester Square round the corner. Room very clean, huge comfortable bed, lovely large shower. We didn't eat at the hotel but there were quite a few people in the restaurant which is always a good sign. Will stay again.

Room Tip: The higher you go the better the view.

“Unpretentious Milimalism in the Heart of the City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Perfect location right on the corner of Trafalgar Square, opposite Canada House in the very heart of the city. It is very discreet and hard to spot, you could not tell that it is a Hilton property, the name is small and positioned unobtrusively above the entrance door. Once inside, you'll be greeted by a very well appointed gentleman who I first thought was Joe Cocker. The lounge and bar area are somewhat dreary by day, but have subdued lighting by night and make a good spot for a rendezvous. Rooms are a nice size, quality if sparse furniture, and a nice comfortable bed. I was disappointed by the basement restaurant, food was of acceptable quality, and relatively cheap for this location. The rooftop bar was closed because of the time of year, but it looks like it would be great in the summer.

All in all, I would recommend this hotel as ideal for a few days, but I would be reluctant to spend a long time here.

“Great Location and Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I stayed at The Trafalgar last weekend and found the property perfectly situated for someone spending a very short time in London. You're very close to public transport as the Charing Cross tube and train station is just across the square and there's a bus stop right outside the hotel. You're also within walking distance to a lot places you might want to go.

The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. The room was nice and updated, though not overly opulent. The hotel has been renovated with a modern flare. It reminded me of an AVIA property.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely return. Having never been to London before, I wasn't sure what to expect and I was not disappointed.

“Lovely accommodation in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I got an upgrade to a room with an interesting design. It was large and comfortable with a step up to a seating area with a desk. The step up meant that the large window was above eye level which was just as well as it mainly pointed at the building next door. The bathroom was very nice. The staff were all helpful and friendly. I arrived very early in the morning, and they sent me off to breakfast while they got my room ready. I liked the breakfast and the breakfast seating. I made good use of the small but well-equipped fitness room. I never saw anybody else in there.

With Hilton Gold, you get a free breakfast. I was not able to learn that in advance so I paid for the first morning's breakfast since it was Christmas Day. I tried to get a refund for that meal but was not successful. (I did not try very hard since they'd served me free breakfast upon arrival.) I found a gift of wine and sweets on the first night and then again on the second night because of the holiday. I also had free wifi in my room which I really appreciated.

My only real gripe was the elevator that made a loud grinding noise as it passed each floor. I appreciate that it was holiday time, but it seems like such a high end hotel could manage to get it fixed anyway. The noise was fairly loud in my room which was some distance from the elevator, so I felt sorry for those in closer rooms. (I reported the problem when it first started, so I know they knew about it.) Other than that, the room was very quiet.
