We have just returned from one night at the Melia White House. The hotel is in an excellent location and the public areas are lovely. The rooms are well-equipped and clean but the standard double we were allocated was very small and dark. Our stay was ruined however by the complete lack of soundproofing between the rooms. There was an interconnecting door (locked!) between us and the room on one side and you could hear everything through it. On the other side of us there was no interconnecting door, just a thin wall. The people in this room for some reason had their T.V on till the early hours and then started talking at about 5am - they weren't doing anything wrong just low-level chat but you could still hear it from our room. As a result we got virtually no sleep all night.
We asked to be moved and were offered a room on the 8th floor but this was overlooking a busy road and the noise was incredible. In fact I thought at first that someone had left a window open it was so loud. We won't be going back!
